Do you think Fischer McAsey will be at the AFC in 2022?

Fisher will be left in Melbourne to sort things out both emotionally/mentally.

See what happens in the new year but if he wants to play football, he will probably end up in the VFL with the clubs blessing.
It's our best interests to let him play VFL.

Lol, you know very well height is not everything when it comes to being a key position player.

No one who follows football seriously would suggest Gollant could be a key defender!

Gollant is nothing like Stephen May lol.

This is the problem when trying to select key position players. Height and weight don't tell the full story.

I believe one of McAsey's major issues is body/core strength, just doesn't have it.

Proper wow moment.
Nah, a wow moment would be you finally coming clean that you were CroMo in a past life...

Ironic you spend much of your time accusing others (often falsely) of being an alias... yet you pretend to cover up your original username...

Come on, you know you want to come out... ;)

I watched the last SANFL
final we played where Fisher took some crucial marks and kicked goals to help keep us in the game. Glimpses of his talent there. Hope he can work through the personal leave issues and get back to playing again, whether for us or someone else. Sure people are disappointed - but it’s time to put this guys needs ahead of our fanatical support for club.

This. Do people think he'll become more athletic because of the Victorian water or something?
Has he been drafted to another club, He Maybe could have been developed better, a better environment may have given him more confidence. Being at home / closer to family he may have been happier and hence performed better.

He’d still be slow and with a lack of mobility though

All of this is true.
Fish was a guy who took his footy really seriously. Too seriously. He analysed and over analysed everything. He prepared immaculately. Basically he took the fun out of playing.
Then he goes interstate, straight into all the Covid mess. His father has health issues and his form is not what he expected from himself. It's a snowball effect.
Really sad for him as he does have some talent.

If he prepares immaculately how come he struggled to complete his time trials ?

You’d have thought a Vic club would have given him a shot if it was mainly mental/interstate living issue

He's not the first high pick to not make it. Imo it wouldn't have mattered which club he went too as he doesn't have the ability to make it at senior level. One of Ogilvie's worst picks and he has made a few.

There’s one thing I just want to point out when it comes to mental illness. Which is, from the outside nobody can really know what’s causing all the mental burden except for the unwell person and his mental health professional. As observers, we are only seeing a snapshot of his external issues.

Regarding McAsey, it would be very easy to put it as a case of homesickness or the lack of AFL opportunities. However, I would predict there’s much more issues than that. Issues that none of us fans or even the club might fully be aware of.

First thing is that I hope he gets his mental state right, just like any player with a long term injury - hope they rest up and recover.
Next thing is that I hope he can come back hungrier (and healthier), and he gets a few AFL games in 2023. At least see what he has to show if he comes back as McAsey version 2.0.

McAsey’s interest in his mental wellbeing should be far greater than our interest in seeing him kick a football, in an AFL game or otherwise.

I’m not sure there is a version 2.0
