Mcasey and our second for pick 11?

If Carlton are interested in him, it's not because they've somehow seen a diamond in the rough that everyone else missed and are willing to pay through the nose for him. It will be because they can get a formerly highly-rated tall for super cheap. It's worth taking a risk on a theoretically talented player who might just turn things around if you can get them for a song. It's not worth giving up a first round pick for a player who most likely won't make it.

I doubt we even get a second-round pick without giving something back in exchange.

Said similar with Matt Crouch too...Still wanted etc etc etc..How much stock do we put in this?
Makes perfect sense to review McAsey at the end of next year ....that's 4 years in the AFL system

Would take a big drop in faith, to exit a highly ranked KPP, after just 3 years ......we've never done it, that I can recall ....we even wanted Meesen to stay

I’m sure Nicks and the whole coaching staff is working hard to develop Fischer’s game, and if he isn’t traded they will be working out a path to the senior team for him.

That doesn’t mean that if those in list management are offered good value for him they won’t take it.

Trade McAsey and a future 3rd for Carlton’s 2nd rounder this year. Then try to pair up Carlton’s 2nd (30ish) and our 2nd (24ish) to get another first rounder in the teens this year - Brisbane would do this deal in a heartbeat to gain points for Ashcroft.

Trade Pick 5 for Rankine and try to get some change back. It’s unlikely that we will get change back, but try. Yes, in an ideal world, we would only trade the pick in the teens (should we acquire one) for Rankine. Unfortunately, when you’re set to make someone your highest paid player, you are unlikely to get them for a pick in the teens in a draft that is generally regarded as pretty weak.

Means we retain a first round pick this year, get McAsey off the books, and bring in Rankine. Seems doable to be honest.

In your scenario, if we secured Brisbane's first rounder, why not bundle that up with our 2023 2nd for Rankine..a 1st and a 2nd straight up with nothing coming back

To think this was some AFL bullshit away of being Noah Anderson.

This pick delayed our rebuild by a year.

Trade for whatever we can get, best of luck to him, and let’s never talk about this again.
The unwarranted PP to the Suns didn't help, but Young and Serong went the next two picks after McAsey. This was just a very poor selection.

It's good if no club is interested in McAsey, he needs to know 2023 is his last shot at AFL, it's with the crows or its nothing, nobody is going to put him on a list if he fails.

Train hard this pre-season, get the head in the game, give this footy thing a final crack, have some pride and don't let Murray be a better player, be competitive ffs.

Even if he shows nothing next year, he will find his way onto an AFL list.

He will be a 22 year old KPP that was pick 6 in the draft. Every Victorian clubs will offer him a contract.

Edit - Don't forget Pick 10 Daniel Gorringe was on an AFL list for 6 years.
