I posted ratings from stats insider looking at a few positions but not in graph form.
When separating the positions it is always in overall player rank order.
It is their own criteria used so subjective.
Just change the positions in the top filter. You can have one or multiple positions. Same with the other filter on Teams.

Below are the defenders. One in general defender plus key defender, the other just key defender.
With my two images i could only go so far. To get all you will have to go to the link.

COMBINED KEY AND GENERAL DEFENDER

This doesn’t fit with my ‘Wilkie is a fraud propped up by Ross’ terrorist defensive football’ take so I’m choosing to ignore this data point.

Signing into the lions website works fine but not the app on the phone. I'll worry about it if the app still doesn't work closer to the first game.

I download the tickets to my phone wallet before every game. Do not want to get caught at the gate.

I just need to remember to do that the day before the game this year. Spent too much time at the pub (or on the train) before the first game every year trying to fix my app and tickets

Big wrap for Starcevich naming him in our best 23 (including sub) across the past 25 years outing the likes of Marcus Ashcroft, Joel Patfull, Ash McGrath, Jed Adcock, Craig McCrae, Robbie Copeland and Brad Scott off the top of my head.
I love Starc but certainly not ahead of Ashcroft. I suppose the thinking is Starc is a genuine back pocket but he's already filled those positions.

Can't believe I forgot Pikey who was such a seriously underrated player from what I've seen and being young, but the old man always rated him highly as a player could almost play anywhere. I guess a bit like Notting?
Yep . You'd have to have Pikey ahead of Starc.

There's always a tendency to overrate players from the past but in those early 2000's we did have generational guns who don't come along all that often.

I think Fish has it pretty much right.

I agree but the thinking might be that Aschroft's output in the years he played this century were below Starc's. I think there is a fair argument to be had there - his best football was definitely in the 90's and, if you ignore the additional two flags, Starc has a case based on best and fairest finishes and his most recent finals series.

Yep. Career, Ashcroft; 2000s, Starce. You could mount a similar argument for DJ v Patfull.

Dayne Beams, although just 58 games across 4 seasons, he was very good. Good enough to be in that team.
Hi Mav. Hope you’re doing well.

Yeah, I suspect Beams’ brilliance as a footballer and status at the club is forever going to be overshadowed by the way he departed and how he ended up.

I am personally of the opinion that Dunkley’s 2 years at the club out way Beams 4.
Especially as far as overall importance for the teams performance.
But that may be just me?

Starce is better in defence than Richy though. Rich was a great clubman and a stalwart when we weren't great but with Johnson in the team I don't think his attacking play and kicking outweigh his short comings as a defender. Johno wasn't a lockdown defender, White would play as the 3rd tall, you would need Scott and Starce to lockdown players IMO.

I think the team changes within a few years to include at least one Ashcroft, who it could be argued has proven himself to be as good as Shaun Hart. Not that Shaun Hart isn't good Washy is just special though and we don't make the grand final last season without him and probably knock off Collingwood in 23 if he hadn't done his ACL.

I agree, I think I put Dunks in my team last time I did this because you need someone to go to the oppositions best mid. It has been a consistent role for basically every club for over a century and deserves to be recognised IMO. Hart and B Scott did that role IIRC during our 3-peat years but I think Dunks consistency, ability, versatility and size put him ahead of those guys, if I was building a team to play. I think our midfield stacks up against anyone's going head to head without playing someone in a defensive role but why would you not

Also Neale making 2 teams of the century isn't a bad effort.

Brad Scott was aslo excellent in that nullifying role that Dunks played and blanketed the likes of Hird and Buckley many times. Not trying to undersell Dunks at all, but Brad Scott was pretty darn good against IMO better players than what Dunks has come up against (with the exception of Cripps and possibly Bont).
I don't disagree at all. There is some personal choice and preferences when it comes down to choosing the team. Dunks I think, has a better ability to work off his direct opponent and feed the ball out to team mates and lays a lot more tackles. It's not just that Dunks does a great defensive job but he often beats the other #1 mid in the contest. I know Brad was a handy back flanker and wingman but Dunks abilty to play a 3rd tall role and chop out in the ruck if the main ruckman goes down is IMO more of an asset than what Brad offers outside of the lockdown role.

These two cop a fair bit of flak here (and everywhere, really) for their over the top opinions etc, often justifiably so. But, credit where it's due, they spent the opening 15 minutes this morning basically taking the p155 out of themselves and each other on that very basis.

Each to their own but I find them quite listenable 🤷
