He was from St Kilda C.C...their home ground is Junction oval. To be fair i'd say his connection is pretty relevant.

Geez this is a tough one, saw my first Lions game at Brunswick St. and most at the Junction Oval. But yes we inherited the St Kilda Oval, and did change the Newman Stand to the Murray. It is said the Great Southern will become the S.K.Warne Stand and as the Junction Oval is now a cricket ground, and the home of the St Kilda cricket club, I think the logical progression will be a a stand stand name change.

My opinion only and open to be battered down by footy leather minds but yeah, times do change BUT, would expect a plaque in honour of Kevin Murray to be prominently placed should a change occur.

The players need to finally learn to deal with the hype, the expectations and the pressure if they want to get to the next level. Which I'm sure they've been learning to better deal with throughout the pre-season.

U17 Boys just smashed Lions. 17 8 to 6 8. Some good talent coming through!

Ok so GC Suns have a few good ones in 2023 draft - some of their best today in big win against Brisbane in U19 were the 17 yo’s

U18: Suns 103 defeat Lions 28.

U18 Girls: Suns 52 defeat Lions 12.

Watched the U18 boys and there wasn’t a lot to like, Jaspa showed a bit with his movement in traffic and showed he can kick 50m quite easily but were a couple pretty poor defensive efforts. Number 6, Jack Manly is one who stood out just for his kicking action alone, sweet left foot kick but I’ve got no idea whether he’s on any draft rankings at this point.

Not a rule change, this season clubs seem to be favouring giving the kicker an extra 5m and having the ability to move rather than standing still.

But the command from the umpires is stand, so they can't move.

No rule change
Quite a few teams did it last year
I don't see the benefit in doing it 90+% of the time
Depending where the kick is being taken you may decide to do it
The thing is you can only go sideways or forward to the mark area if you are told by the ump you are back 5 meters or more behind the mark area.
Five meters behind the imaginary mark area is the protected area for both teams
So you really need to go back a bit further to have some leeway.
I call it the imaginary mark area as it is where the ump points to the ground with his arm probably saying that's the mark
It allows you to jump up and down without penalty and of course move sideways or forward to the imaginary 5 meter line before the ump calls play on.
You do this to cut off certain arears of the ground
Another time could be a shot for goal on 50+ meter mark. Once again a risk if you stuff something up
If you go back say 7 meters you can move forward only to the imaginary 5 meter area, any more it's a 50 meter free. Why risk it.
