Some things matter more to some teams. We don't rely on getting clean taps to advantage, we require our rucks to give a contest. Our midfield is still under construction and improving. Hopefully getting some nice cleaner taps to give us a couple more center clearances a game is something we can get happening over the next 12-24 months.

I think ruck is the most interesting position from a list management perspective. Rarely taken as high draft picks compared to other positions, longer to develop and (without anything to base to base it on) very low chance to getting a cream of the crop type. At any one time in the AFL there are realistically 1-3 gun rucks who consistently influence games. At present I think there is one Gawn.

I think we have an average ruckman in O who is above average in workrate and ability to mark and kick goals up forward.

So when you say I don't rate our rucks, I'm not sure what you mean. Compared to what? And why?

We also been starting poorly in the midfield won only 2/5 1st. Is that the ruck or the mids.
Also won only 2/5 last quarters as well. Seem to do our work in the third.
If you take the North game out of it we won 7 out of 16 qtrs for 3 wins and we won the third against the cats.

Yeah a rested Oscar tends to lift although Grundy setup a couple of goals from forward 50 ruck contests last Thursday

Pretty sure he kicked a goal in each quarter against Collingwood. Just keeps bobbing up. Impressive given we've only won the 7th most quarters (less than Richmond and Collingwood) so far this season.

Says a lot about our style of play I reckon. We seem to turn it on in short bursts that end up winning us games.

Think i'm most impressed with Lachie I think 1st for contested possessions and 5th or pressure acts. Maybe its just obvious in the congestion when he tries to get the ball he's also doing the defending in there, but regardless, he is noticeably one of our hardest runners in defence. Hope others will follow his lead.

This idea of "calm in the coach's box" is bizarre. Like, there's no need for the footage to ever cut to the coach's box, the only reason to do so is because the coach might be reacting in some entertaining way. So the goal is to stop the footage from cutting to the coaches, by simple expedient of obliging everyone in there to maintain a constant poker face, apparently.

Why not simply surgically remove the amygdala of all AFL players and coaches? And spectators, ideally?
