Current Four police officers killed after pulling over a Porsche 911 on Melbourne freeway

No, he didn't kill the four cops but if he had the maximum sentence might be much more than the 10 years he's now looking at for fail to render assistance.

So Victoria / australia has the The fictitious 'good Samaritan' law from Seinfeld?

technically the Porsche tosser was not involved in the accident - does he have to hang around ?

Got nothing to do with the gap to vehicles in front. It's got to do with coming around a corner, or coming over a rise in the road, and bang there's a cop car with their lights on and in order to slow down to 40kph, you have to slam the brakes on in a truck. You do understand that trucks take longer to slow down than cars yes?

and the truck probable weighed 20 ton, or more

doing 100 k

depending on the breaks and how good the truck is it could go loose

Yes, he has to hang around. I'm not suggesting it's uncomplicated but I think the 'fail to render assistance' in those circumstances is the biggie.

Depending on what happened prior, he might have already been told he'd been clocked at a certain speed, that he'd tested positive for drugs and to sit in his car/stand there until they did the paperwork and organised themselves. So there might be a hinder police and resist arrest charge as well, not that you'd expect someone to keep sitting in their car if he was, after a semi rear-ended it but certainly to stay at the scene. imo. Maybe even told he's in breach of bail.

i was assuming he was standing off to the side of the road or something

I think he was, which probably saved his life.

I believe if you, your car, or your property is/are involved in an accident you must stay until details are exchanged or it is sorted by police. Charges even worse if you leave an accident with people who require immediate medical attention. Failure to render assistance.

He’s going to get everything thrown at him. As was said before, cops are the last people you want to mess with.

Sorry to anybody for traumatic details mentioned below.

A legal judgement would have to be made but one of the deceased was in physical contact with his vehicle and he was aware of that.

They may have him on not rendering assistance to that victim even if trying to get away with it for the other three.

PLEASE PLEASE can one judge have the ******* balls to give him the full 10 years PLEASE!!!!

Be good if civil action taken too and he is bankrupted - hopefully simple asset structure so the Trustee can take it all.

Agree. Can see their SWMS being changed.

Too many shit drivers and rubberneckers out there causing accidents.

On a 100km/hr freeway Id be shitting myself standing outside interviewing a driver I pulled over.

I drive the Eastern daily. Not uncommon for a crash in the outbound lanes to cause inbound traffic to come to a near halt. Thought this doesn't surprise me, look at the sort of people in our community fighting over toilet paper and hording same. There are some really, really "simple" (for lack of a better word) in this country.

I remember the Pusey episode on ACA. He’s a renowned bill non-payer. Basically, had 10s of 1000’s worth of reno’s done on his house and never paid the tradies. The principal in the episode was a cabinetmaker chasing up outstanding debts to help for his wife’s cancer treatment. Said that Pusey concocted ridiculous criticisms of the workmanship to deny the payment. And then paid the cabinetmaker a visit to unload on his sick wife. Nice guy.

Well I'm sure there's going to be plenty of people prepared to visit Pusey to unload on him once he's out. And not the sort of people you'd want coming to unload on you either - likely to have a little bit more 'bite' behind them than this pencil necked geek.

what's the go with the Herald Sun article about an identical truck being pulled over? I can't read due to paywall..

also mentions something about being in a group that comes into contact with police?

I agree with what you’re saying, despite this bloke being a piece of shit, you’d be hard pressed making a case that he was somehow obligated to render assistance. The good samaritan laws were brought in to cover someone acting with good intentions in the event of a bad outcome.

Seb Costello, who is a flog, said on Triple M this morning that he knows a few coppers and they told him the truck driver was pulled over earlier that day.

Could be a case of a disgruntled driver mowing the cops down.

Channel 7 confirming that he veered across several lanes before crashing in the emergency lane. Also said that they believe the drivers mental health will play a large part in the course of the investigation. At this point it all points towards being a deliberate act by the truck driver. My guess is that he is beaten up very badly right now in hospital and that's why they also said it could take up to a week to be able to speak to him. Everyone is carrying on about the Porsche driver and sure he is an absolute campaigner but looks like a far more sinister crime here

Beaten up by other police?

What would be the odds though of finding two such hateful and spineless individuals crossing paths at the same time? A killer in a semi and a soulless narc who doesn't even try to help but takes pictures of the carnage before running.

It's too awful.
