Cruel how life works sometimes.

4 police officers, 1 in his first real year of work in the force, doing their job in pulling over a car driving dangerously that could have posed a threat to other road users, lose their lives abruptly and prematurely.

Then you have this piece of shit, whose been proven guilty of ripping people off, a litany of assault accusations amongst other convictions, whose life is spared because he went for a piss by the road side.

Now I'm not saying anyone deserves to die. But, if you had to pick 1...

The internet is littered with thousands of these types of videos......people recording videos and not rendering assistance. Have all these people been charged and sent to jail?
Drug driving at high speeds should be enough to send someone to jail who is on bail with a criminal history.
he will be going to jail

Don’t underestimate the impact sharing those photos and doing a runner has had.

Agree, taking photos to post on facebook and running adds elements of significant aggravation

On the face of it he will probably get off a number of the charges, I doubt they will all get to the court
It depends on the magistrate. All charges have a maximum, so you could get a nice guy that gives him a fine, or a hardass that gives him a sentence to teach him a lesson as he's clearly got form for continuing to flaunt the laws treating roads like his race track. His biggest mistake is taking photos and running, lose the "in shock" excuse.

I'd say the truck driver has had a stroke or something whichs why he's been in hospital a few days. Can't blame the 40 rule as to hit them at 100 says to me there was no buildup of traffic.

If he's had a medical episode prior to the crash, there'll be little to no brake marks

I'm not sure of the accuracy of this fact as I've only seen it once, but I did see that c**t in the Porsche was pulled over at 4:50pm and the incident didn't occur until 5:40pm. That's 50 mins. Not to criticise Vicpol at all but one wonders if they could have moved this process to the nearest exit ramp where speeds are much lower after they realised how long the impound process would be.

If it took that long Vic Roads should have had an attenuator behind them by then for protection. That's practise for major freeways in every major Australian city. Even Perth and Adelaide.

How good is it when you do see some small dick in a sports car pulled over too.

I was driving on the Hume Hwy recently, there were multiple emergency vehicles in the emergency lane which only became apparent as I turned a corner, the idiot in front of me slammed on his brakes to get a better look, I had to do the same, the domino effect caused the semi behind me to lock up its trailer which drifted into the lane to the right. Had there been a car in that lane, it would have caused a multi vehicle pile up and given we were all travelling at around 100 km/h it could have been devastating.

There are situations (accidents) where use of the emergency lane is required. No blame to the police who were following protocol, but maybe a learning from this would be to move the Porsche off the freeway at the nearest exit and organise tow truck from there. Occupying the emergency lane on a freeway with cars at 100km/h for a long period of time seems unnecessarily dangerous.

Does anyone know whether the variable speed signs were slowing drivers down?

Such a tragic accident.

He has money so he will get a decent lawyer, I think he will still get the benefit of I am in shock etc. He probably gets done for speeding, drugs and whatever the bail was will be considered.

Lot of colleagues who are filthy let alone family members.

Did they take pictures of dead people and post them?

If he didn’t stop to take photos mocking the cops and forward it to his mates that could be argued. People in shock tend to act on instinct which he didn‘t. He is a piece of shit who deserves everything he’s about to get, but at the same time he’s not responsible for the 4 deaths.

The speeding, drugs, failing to render assistance and running from the cops for 12 hours, all whilst on bail, should be plenty.

I would say taking photos of something on mobile phones is instinct, this is what we have become. No doubt he is not a model citizen but I doubt he will be convicted of all the shopping bag of charges. Was their actually any assistance to be rendered?

When you are in a truck you are elevated and your vision of what is ahead is much better than the average car in that situation.

This being caused by the slowing down to 40 law seems like fantasy from many that dislike that law.

There aren't variable speed signs on the Eastern.

You have to be kidding if you think that is instinct! You ever seen something like that? That’s not instinct not even close.
And yes there was assistance to be rendered the first witnesses on scene were attending to one of them who didn’t die immediately.

and the truck probable weighed 20 ton, or more

doing 100 k

depending on the breaks and how good the truck is it could go loose
Now that you have stopped criticizing the police for their ‘revenue raising’ would you and that Geelong Bisons tosser also stop trying to defend the truck driver.

This has nothing to do with the 40km/hr law, that stretch of freeway is wide open and straight and there was virtually no traffic present. I will wait for the official word but heads up, it ain’t gonna end well for the truckie.

We can only hope.
I can honestly say, that if I had the misfortune to ever cross paths with this person and identified his name, I would lay my fist square into his face and lay him on his arse.
Do you think any cops would pursue the matter?
You're so gangsta bro.
