Just been told by one of Buddy's best mates he's going to stay at Hawthorn..

...it was Gibbo on a replay of a news reporting..

Just been told by someone in the know up at GWS he's fairly certain that Buddy will be up there next year..

..it was Callan Ward on a replay of a news reporting...

Lol

Is he worth it? Franklin is a very special player and has delivered already a hawks highlights package that is chock full of brilliance, but is he worth what is being suggested is a $1.1m contract for 4 or 5 years. Hot one week - average the next and today he was shizenhousen (but had many friends). I dunno but it may be that he has had enough of playing for the Hawks - at the same time we may have had enough of his of-field issues, his hot/cold performance and we may need to look towards the future in a more lateral manner that excludes Franklin.

What value was he as a recruit or did i miss something.Good player at Melbourne but terrible at Hawthorn and the clubs worst pick up from another club in Clarko's reign.
You do realise we gave up nothing for him. No one drafted in his position was as likely to play as many senior games. Was never there to be best 22, just depth. Served his purpose.

And was massively under-rated for his experience in mentoring young players during his time at the club, which is why he still there is a coaching position.

I would prefer to give a kid a go with the potential to play 3-10 years!

I might have missed something, but I didn't think he wasn't trying: I remember a chase and tackle (I think it was in the 4th quarter) where he looked almost possessed.
i agree i saw him work his arse off he even did not get free's that he should have [not unusual sadly for bud] was surprised he did get one during the game maybe they heard me bag the umps for it [doubt it but i think i silenced the grog squad a couple of times maybe and they were loud ] could not believe silk missed a sitter he usually gets them poor gunners found the post a couple of times or someone moved it lol but bud did try and try again from what i saw he did not give up

at the time we needed depth,
he was it it was not his fault that his body let him down,
in showing us his wares ,
his knee went in the cat game, he played the whole game nearly on that knee he did not go off when he did it and not play like others have done ,
that probably made it worse,
the criticism he copped from day one was disgusting in my books,
i should call it bagging as that was what it was,
they never gave him time to click with our team to gel and work in with them , coming from another team into our team for any player is a big thing, i reckon, they got to learn everything about our players to work well with them as our players have to learn to do the same with the one coming in it is not an over night sensation yet people demand that,
they demand that from players put in to get match fitness after an injury,
you can not fully get that at box hill as that is a different level to afl anyone tells me otherwise got rocks in their heads ,
people that know way more then me have told me some of what i know and some of those have been players !

I won't say anything after this comment. The day Buddy announced he wouldn't re-sign with our club, is why I immediately stated he would leave. The reason I said that was because there is no doubt in my mind that GWS had approached him long before he started to even train. . He had been offered a huge incentive to leave our club for the GWS.
There is no doubt he couldn't refuse the huge dollars he was offered, but he also had his mates there in Sydney, as well as at our club he plays with. He will go! I know many of you will throw arrows at me, but that's ok..:D That's it for me, we will just have to wait and see..

One of the GWS coaches is saying it's 'as good as done' buddy to GWS...this is quoted directly from him...he is either taking the piss or is pretty certain that buddy will be at GWS next year...

How true hfc70, there are plenty in the media, our board and other boards who claim to have "inside" information. Truth of the whole matter is, none of us know anything about what is going on and won't know until Buddy announces it. All I have is a gut feel (I need some antacid for it :D), intuition.. call it what you like. Buddy WILL stay..

The one and only Kevin Sheedy! He knows a family friend of mine very well (since the days he was coaching Essendon).

He was speaking with Sheedy a week or so ago while in Melbourne and was told the 'Buddy deal was good as done', pretty much summed it up by saying the $$ involved in the deal would be to good to refuse.

If what he is saying is true, then all the best to big bud. Don't think any other AFL player can say no to such an offer.

I really hope he stays, just sharing something that I was told over the weekend.
