almost every single game in the past 5 seasons looks fixed/not like a regular game of fair footy, maybe you already gave the game away mentally a long time ago
I'm not being flippant with my comments. If you honestly believe that is the case then why would you follow something you believe to be so corrupt?

Supporters and fans have been complaining about refs, umpires etc since the dawn of time and guess what, nothing ever comes of it. I'd rather focus my energy on letting the club know how disappointed and discontent I am with everything that has happened from 2015.

I just remembered the non-OOF on the wing that became a mark, then a Walters 50, then a Walters goal.

The same wing where Robbie gave away that free to Walters.

The same wing where Farrell caught Ryan cold and it was called a boundary throw-in.

The same wing where following an extended rolling maul involving a stack of tackles/drops/spills for both teams, Motlop suddenly copped a red hot HTB for it.

The same wing where Robbie was KO’d by some nobody last year.

That wing is cursed, man.
The Walters push in the back by Burton....

He seriously got up bamboozled reminiscent of the calls at Hawthorn

In all honesty, this issue has slowly killed my interest in the game to the point where I don't look forward watching the games anymore as I know we will be copping some absolute howlers when the game is in the balance. I'm not saying that we're the most disciplined team in AFL and most of the free kicks are possibly there (barely) but for instance the Robbie Gray one on Walters was just bizarre. No one knew what that one was for and you'd never see something like that played against one of the powerhouse clubs. And there were more than just that instance in that game alone. For me it's at the point where on the rare occasion we do receive fair treatment, it almost feels like relief rather than expectation. And you can argue about Ken being tactically inept, but what's for certain is that he's gutless to even question some of those decisions. Few posters have already mentioned that if that was to happen to one of Pyke, Bucks or Clarkson, the whingeing would be astronomical. I mean, the talking point the whole of last week was the Howe free kick against for his leg up mark. And the Pies actually won too and they still find space to whinge.
It might sound like sour grapes but for me, it's at a point where I only take a passing interest on the scores of our games but as a whole, my interest in AFL is continuing to diminish.

I've never seen an umpire mark a ball from a player's free kick and then call a ball up, before or since.

I've never seen an umpire call a player to play on after 15secs while he's mid run up, before or since.

etcetera
We exist to have bizarre interpretations of rules that never occur again. It's hardly new, who can forget Pickett railroaded out of the game with a penalty at least twice what similar one's got later that year, because Schwab had a vendetta against him due to knocking out one of his players whilst Hawks coach?

Or the changes to priority pick rules, just as we are about to get them. Or Port not treated like any other club around 100 games for Port being a Father-Son, because we have to pretend the Magpies didn't exist, so we get some bastardized 200 games for half a state crap.

I'm not expecting goobies from HQ, like Adelaide and West Coast get, but I'd settle for us just being as screwed over as fellow 'little clubs' North, Bulldogs, Saints and Melbourne rather than semi-regular episodes from HQ of 'Hey, whats the weirdest shit we can try this week?'.

It might sound like sour grapes but for me

Its not sour grapes in today's football. It is now a legitimate strategy for teams to take advantage of umpiring in their favour. Why do you think that every team who has won a premiership or two over the last 5 years is always questioned over their umpire advantage through out the season.

The only team that was not affect by the men in green but still succeeded is Richmond.

Year - Premiers - Freekick Differential Ranking
2010 - Magpies - 10th
2011 - Cats - 10th
2012 - Swans - 9th
2013 - Hawks - 8th
2014 - Hawks - 5th
2015 - Hawks - 7th
2016 - Bulldogs - 1st
2017 - Tigers - 18th
2018 - Eagles - 3rd

does anyone think the afl would rig a game. Eg send an umpire out with instructions to ensure a result.?.
I never thought it possible but I have seen it with my own eyes. One good example was crows vs Fitzroy when the afl were leaning on them to relocate. About 8 bewildering frees in a row in the last got the crows over the line and sent a clear message to Fitzroy. Go back and watch it, I am sure it's online somewhere. A more blatant example of afl rigging a game would be hard to find, so the afl have form.
The same shit is going on today. The players change but the game doesn't.
The afl would want wc, crows, Collingwood, Richmond, Carlton, Essendon in the 8 come finals, all the high drawing teams. They would ensure maximum tv rights and game day attendance and maximum bonus for the CEO. Port, freo, Brisbane, north Melbourne, saints, gc wouldn't be so great for the CEO.
It's a very rigged and contrived comp, everything, the draw, the draft, the umpiring, the tribunal is all skewed/ rigged to achieve certain outcomes. The stars elbow blokes and get off whilst the lowly clubs are reminded of their place in the grand order. It's kind of accepted that certain stars receive preferential treatment. Whilst others don't.
I regard the afl as slightly better than the wwf, it's a soap opera for men and it's only now I am older and have stepped back from it, that I can see how blatantly corrupt it is.

Of course thank goodness that Brisbane upset the AFL dictators during the 2004 finals series and that meant that Port wasn't copping a reaming during the grand final on that day.

No. It's more a case of what are the AFL doing to fix this. Cos for a long time it's been nothing
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but nothing is going to be "fixed".

It can only be fixed by getting out from under the AFL’s thumb so we can push back. And that’s not happening until we clear our debt. That’s why the club doing their best to piss the golden opportunity of China down the drain is so infuriating.

Last time I remember us getting the rub of the green was the AO game against Melbourne in 2011. And even that was nothing compared to the all time reaming we'd received against Essendon just the week before.

I've never seen an umpire take the word of a player who said that a mark was actually touched and then call for a ball up.

My other theory is that the umpires get sick and tired of having to continually ask who from Port is contesting the ruck and do it as payback.

Seriously, what's going on here? At least once per game you can hear the umps call out "Port Adelaide, Port Adelaide" at a ball up because we haven't nominated a ruck. I've even seen at least once this year an uncontested ruck contested because none of our players nominated in time. I never notice this we any other team. Is this another instance of our players being confused and disorganised or am I reading too much into this?

I believe this table tells us that we are the only team with a negative free kick diff the last 7 years straight. So it does, to some extent, back up this feeling we have of not getting a fair deal.

No point going 15 years back. Last 10 years enough and it is in two distinct parts.
1. 2009 - 2012 - Port are shit, doesn't matter if you give them frees.
2. 2013 to now. Port could make finals if they get a fair run, they aren't a big 4 club, Sydney, West Coast, Adelaide or one of new babies. Don't make life easy.
