INJURY LIST: ROUND FIVE
Michael Frederick (eye) – test
Liam Reidy (abdomen) – 2 weeks
Heath Chapman (calf) – 3-4 weeks
Travis Colyer (knee) – 3-4 weeks
Nat Fyfe (foot) – TBA
Matt Taberner (back) – TBA
Michael Frederick is expected to return to the Fremantle line-up for Friday’s Gather Round clash with Gold Coast, according to Executive General Manager of Football Peter Bell.
The forward missed the Crows clash over the weekend after he sustained an eye injury in Freo’s RAC Derby win over West Coast the week prior.
Bell gave an update on Frederick in the round five Perth Radiological Clinic injury update ahead of Freo’s Friday afternoon fixture with the Suns at Norwood Oval.
“We are going to get some specialist advice tomorrow and we will have a much clearer picture then,” Bell said.
“We are really confident that Michael will be available.”
Meanwhile, Matt Taberner has returned to Perth for further investigation on a back injury that followed the match against Adelaide at the weekend.
“Some bad news for Matt in that he woke up a bit sore post-match,” Bell said.
“He has had a scan and we are sending him back home for further investigation.
“He will be unavailable this week with a disc issue in his back.”
Heath Chapman (calf), Travis Colyer (knee) and Nat Fyfe (foot) are continuing to progress with their rehabilitation, while Liam Reidy has been added to the injury list with an abdomen injury.
The developing ruck was a late omission ahead of Peel’s season opener against East Fremantle on Good Friday, replaced in the Peel side by key defender Hugh Davies.
Appropriately harsh, most have said the dude looks cooked, looks a fair judgement if his back is confirmed ****edHave we been too harsh on Tabs?
Righteo is right in that it is too harsh on Taberner’s individual performances, but he’s also never been a good enough player to carry through an injury. Ultimately the coaching staff have stuffed up big time.Appropriately harsh, most have said the dude looks cooked, looks a fair judgement if his back is confirmed ****ed

Every time he gets on the field him and the s&c staff have judged him fit enough to play, hence we should be judging him on that standard.Have we been too harsh on Tabs?
Not sure that follows. Few more losses and we're almost certainly looking to the future. Its fairly evident that Tabs' back won't allow him to be part of that.A few more losses and we will be welcoming Tabs back as our saviour .
Forgot your bet with the other half, I was idiot enough to go talking him up on the main board in that thread 'Could Fyfe win the Coleman?' Jesus even that moronic post in that thread that said Cotchin will kick more goals this year than Fyfe is looking right. What's the deal on Fyfe? Hasn't he been a 50/50 for the past few weeks? My bet with the other half that he would play 15 games this year is not looking good.
Oh man what happened to Switta? I didn’t see the end of the game because my eyes were gouged out
Fyfe is cooked. Really sad to say it, and I know it's a sore topic where if you're 'critical' of him you get piled up on the pyres of annoyance, but he looked close to cooked last year; struggled with the pace of the game and didn't throw his body around as much, nor tackle hard. It's horrible, but it's really hard to see a way back for him here, it's a truly sad demise, but we have to know that his end is really near now and acknowledge what a f***ing superstar of the club he's been. One of our club greats with Mundy and Pav.Yea hard not to think Fyfes cooked .
Apparently had (yes I know) another fantastic pre season(like the whole team apparently) but then hits rd 1(reckon he was injured before even going into that game) and he’s out again.
Rinse and repeat
Heard Harry Taylor on ABC say that he also had plantar fasciitis. The more I read about plantar fasciitis, it sounds like Fyfe needs to break his foot in order to fix it. Tough call.
That would feel so ****ing weird.Heard Harry Taylor on ABC say that he also had plantar fasciitis.
He eventually had his foot pumped full of anaesthetic and ran as fast as he could. That was enough to break the tissue and fix the problem.
He also said that the issue emerged after he trained as a forward and he thinks that the change to running patterns required of a forward may have contributed to the problem emerging in the first place.
That's encouraging. Hope they do something like this with Fyfe, and not just go with the 'resting it' approach.I’m interested to know if the club have tried shockwave therapy for Fyfe’s plantar.
I suffered badly from the same injury - could not run and walking was painful.
Tried resting it for months to no avail, then had shockwave therapy and it was fixed in 3 weeks .
While the therapy itself is bloody painful, the result for me was incredible - fixed it completely..
