The Lobb injury will give Meek a decent opportunity to cement a spot in the 22 ,He was drafted as a Ruck / Forward.
Lobb hasn’t produced much for us anyway, hopefully he has a hard time getting back into the side due to Meek and Darcy carving it up .
I’ve never even considered Meek a like for like replacement for Lobb but it could work. We definitely lose a bit of mobility although Meek moves surprisingly well for his size

But its the Freo way y'know? Have an imbalanced list with a clear shortage in a certain area and then watch as early injuries deplete said area even further.

I will be gobsmacked if Taberner is not injured within the first couple of rounds.

This is bad list management. Full stop. As much as I like our players would it have been too hard to sacrifice one of our many mid-size troopers ( Crowden, Banfield, Colyer etc ) for an extra KPF or Ruck to improve to our depth?

Same dumb sh!t repeated every year is the definition of insanity.

And here is the actual injury list:

Bailey Banfield - Season
Brett Bewley - Test
Adam Cerra - 4-6 weeks
Mitch Crowden - 12-16 weeks
Sean Darcy - Test
Rory Lobb - Season
Griffin Logue - Season
Sam Sturt - Season
Luke Valente - Test
Michael Walters - 6-8 weeks
This post is going to ruin a lot of people’s days

Almost exactly a year ago this was our injury list....

Blake AcresHamstringTBC
Jesse HoganMental healthIndefinite
Joel HamlingAnkle10-12 weeks
David MundyLegTBC
Alex PearceAnkleTBC
Darcy TuckerKneeTest
Nathan WilsonToe4-5 weeks

And we were all freaking out about our backline getting pantsed with Hamling, Pearce and Wilson all out.

What eventuated was Luke Ryan becoming an All Australian and Brennan Cox proving he wasn't far behind.

Perhaps some forwards will similarly grasp the opportunity presented with both hands this season.

I'm expecting the brace to come off, the scan to be repeated, shows it's ok, training begins, soreness and fluid in the joint, minor knee procedure to tidy up the meniscus and grind off the bone.

Then four weeks on top of that. So six, plus two, plus four
yep after the bye most likely

Yes, it is too simplistic to blame injuries. None of Meek, Lobb, Darcy or Taberner have played an injury free season to date.

We are going to start this season with only 2 fit KPF and 2 fit Rucks and 1 of each has yet to debut.

If JoLo can get the team into the 8 under these circumstances ( plus all the inevitable attrition during the season ) then he will deserve a statue down at Freo and I will personally knock over Bon Scott to make room for it.
