I notice the Sydney Swans are doing a Hall of Fame round this week.

And it made me think when should our club start thinking about introducing a hall of fame.

We are 30 years old now as a club and yes life membership i suppose is a similar accolade.

But the Hall of Fame is separate to that and represents more then just 150 games or contribution to the club.

I feel its time a Fremantle Dockers Hall of Fame should be created and inducted on Doig Medal night for some of our true greats.

Why wait another 10 years when it should be starting this year.

I think we would all agree Pav should be first nominee.

It doesn't have to be a yearly thing but i feel it should be something that should be started shortly.

30 year celebration is the perfect way to kick it off.

Maybe by the 40th season we have 6 or 7 players in the Freo Hall of Fame.

There's already a Fremantle Football Hall of Legends, Could that not be used? It would have anybody involved with the Dockers, South & East Freo and the old Fremantle Football Club / Rovers from the 19th century WAFA.

The WAFL and WAFC run the WAFL footy hall of fame. They recognise the in put from South and East players.
South Fremantle have their own Hall of fame.
I think Fremantle FC needs to have its own HOF.

Is it fair to say we’d only have two so far in Pav and Mundy?
Fyfe when he retires.
They may be the best we have had.. sofar, but don't under estimate the value of players like Shane Parker, Luke McPharlin,Johnson, Sandilands. And Sean McManus must be considered. He was the heart and soul of our club when he was playing.
A hall of fmae does not necessarily mean they were the best players ever at the club.

These former players can not increase their value, but deserve the accolades.
The HOF need not be a yearly thing. But I know Souths have a Legends group. Then hall of famers.
If these players were part of ANY VFL club, they would be in the HOF.
And also I am sure there will be, when the HOF comes into being, room for administrators .Some whohave represented the club both as players and administrating.

Nah the Freo Hall of Legends is different from the WA Football HoF.

Basically players from the two Fremantle WAFL club.
According the the post ,there has not ben a player inducted since 2000. It makes one wonder if it is still an actual official thing, or was it just a thing to bring the heart of Fremantle footballer into the FFC circle!
Because there has been so much bad blood between South and the Dockers, I doubt it maen much now days.
Maybe someone will tell me if it is still a thing that the FFC actually know about with no players since 2000.
It has peaked my interest after seeing the site provided, and have written to Simon Garlic to ask if the Hall of Legends is till a real thin, or a thought bubble that has burst.I will let you know of his ressponse when I get one.

Yeah I agree. Looks like nothing has happened since 2000, but there was a note saying that "In time, players who represented Fremantle in the AFL will join their predecessors in this prestigious Hall."

I think my point here is that there's the bones of something that isn't just an individual club (Freo/SF/EF) and not WAFL/WAFC run that, if it were developed, can embrace the full history of Fremantle footy. Can even take it back to the OG Fremantle team of the late 19th century and include the likes of Albert Thurgood.

It certainly "COULD" bu I fear it wont.
I think the FFC lost that chance froom day dot. I have always said that the new comers to the club need to be escorted around the two WAFL clubs and shown the history of both clubs.
They should have leant on them more.Had past players, the likes of Sheedy and Marsh, even though they were the early number one ticket holders show them what it was about. Have others like, Michael and Peake and many more talk to them about what it was like to be part of the two greatest WAFL clubs.
We didn't buy a ticket for that bus, we missed out on a seat get what it should have been about,

Surely we'd have to include Dale Kickett just for the Demolition Derby alone? :)
