He doesn't deserve a contract extension. He's utter garbage and clogging up a list spot

I agree. Back in April we hadn't seen Josh Treacy explode yet, or Patrick Voss offer anything.

Now we can directly compare Voss with another preseason practising catching a football to Tabs with even more wear on the engine.

I'd only be a bit disappointed if we delisted Sturt, O'Driscoll, Voss and/or Banfield.

The obvious delists are Corbett, Kuek, Hughes, Taberner and Stanley. Emmett isn't AFL standard but we are so thin in that area of the ground I can see why he'd get a 1 yr extension.

We probably need the ruckmen in case we lose both Jackson and Darcy at some stage, but if 1 leaves (or both) we can cover with a 'break glass in case of emergency' option like Rookie Listing Oliver Eastland. (Had the lazy 47 hitouts yesterday).

Depends how hard they want to cut back at the end of the year.

Taylor any update on Liam Reidy?
Riley Beveridge on the Aug 7 Gettable podcast said that he'd signed a 1 year extension.

(about 2/3 of the way through, after the Barrass discussion).
Not signed. He released an update later I think via twitter and changed it to has been offered a contract

Just putting this here, so I know how many list spots we have open and who is still out of contract.

We currently have 3 spots open. Ideally we get this to 6, before we look at bringing in anyone other than Bolton.

Gone
Ethan Hughes
Josh Corbett - spot taken by Voss
Matt Taberner
Sebit Kuek
Conrad Williams - Cat B
Ethan Stanley

Unknown
Max Knobel
Odin Jones
Tom Emmett

Adding Taylor's info, normally more reliable than mine

Notes: Emmett moved to Rookie list.

Current list profile has:
Total: 40 players
Primary list: 33 ( Knobel out of contract)
Rookie List (A): 6 (Jones, Emmett, Stanley out of contract)
Rookie List (B): 1

Currently,
4 national draft picks, 2 rookie draft picks.
to
6 national draft picks, 0 rookie draft picks.

If all out of contract players, do not re-sign.
So potentially 30 primary list players, 3x cat A rookies, 1x cat B rookies total.

5 national draft picks, 5 rookie draft picks.
to
7 national draft picks, 3 rookie draft picks.

#Taylor are you going to update the delisting soon or waiting for list lodgements etc.

I'm writing notes on the far right of the table indicating who has been delisted/retired so that it's easier to track the list places as they become available, which empty numbers were rookies etc

Taylor - can you double check this please

Statistics wise Voss was very similar at AFL level to Cyclone in 2023. He's also nearly a year younger than Josh. Watching him last preseason he looks like a hard trainer too.

Are you counting Sharp as a rookie. Im pretty sure as an SSP signing he's on the rookie list. We can pay him more than a rookie but I think he's on the list.

I had a doctors appointment run an hour late so I thought Id count out how many vacancies we have as v had annoyed me for a hile. One things that I was confused over was the status of Voss and Sharp who were sgned on as SSP last season which means they count on the rookie list. Voss has been added to our rookie list for 2025 but Sharp is a rookie we can promote or keep as a rookie. It looks like Narkle will be rookied an SSP by the looks so Ive counted him on the rookie list and Bolton on the main list. You can have uo to six rookies and that doesnt include SSP signings.

By my count we have 32 players on our main list including Bolton.
We have Sharp who we can promote or keep on the rookie list in 2025.
We have one Cat B rookie in Draper outside of the main list, In 2025
clubs can have 3 Cat B rookies so an extra one. from 2024. Our two Irish players we
can bring both over I think. https://www.afl.com.au/about-afl/rookie-player
We currently have 3 rookies and what looks like a promise to rookie Narkle as an SSP meaning 4 rookies.
If we rookie Knobel and Emmett then we have to upgrade Sharp and take 3 picks to the draft. If we only rookie Knobel (eg delist and redraft) then we cab take 4 picks to the draft and keep Sharp as a rookie. If we promote Sharp rookie Emmett and Knobel we can take 2 picks in the draft so possibly combining our 4th and second rounder to a team looking for points.

Hopefully this information is useful to someone. I id on paper while waiting for a doctor who not only ran massvely late but my appointment ran longer than expected so I got a parking fine.

Primary list (we will run again with 36)
Delisted: Tabs, Hughes, Corbett (3)
Added: Shai Bolton
Out of Contract: Emmett, Knobel
Likely Delisting: Emmett (that will enable us to use three ND selections).

Cat-A Rookie (we will run with 6)
Reidy, Stanley, Voss, Kuek, Worner, Sharp, Jones (7)
Delisted: Stanley, Kuek (2)
Likely addition: Narkle
Likely further delisting: Jones (will give us one selection in RD)

Cat-B Rookie
Draper, Williams (2)
Delisted: Williams (1) this gives us capacity to add one Cat-B Rookie

Why would we delist young Odin to replace him with a Rookie draft selection?

It might be that he is replaced by Delean or Emmett.

I think we will find out the type of players keen to move to Freo, not publicly named, by which type of players are positioned towards the exit chute.

Why would we delist young Odin to replace him with a Rookie draft selection?
I should have said possible further rookie delisting.

The reason they may delist him is they feel there is a better option available. This draft bats deep and there are sure to be some very good players miss out on ND spot. We also have an interest in Jack Carroll. If that is to play out he could either be selected as DFA or SSP. The first option (ie DFA) would require another primary list spot delisting which would likely mean another to the rookie list. My selection would be move Jack Delean to Rookie list. I don’t want them to try and move Knobel to Rookie list. He is a talented ruckman developing nicely.
