Too old and slow or more experience? Doesn’t change the fact you were outplayed for 3 quarters by said team

We were ahead at half time. Which would indicate that we won the half...

Regarding your first question: It is not in dispute that you had way more experience. And yes, your team is old and slow.

There's been enough negativity here over the past few weeks so only going to post positives

  • Switta is ****ing elite
  • Jye Amiss is the forward we've been wanting for years. Has to stay in the team from now on
  • How good is it to see Sonny firing and loving his footy again
  • Freddie looks to have gained some mojo back, will be huge if he can build on last years form from here
  • Johnson was an absolute steal, the kid has it and would love to see him stay in the team from now on.
  • Luke Jackson seems to be warming up, hopefully can keep building and be the player we need him to be

Alrighty thoughts from tonight:

  • Felt like Cox and Pearce were competing with each other to see who could have the worst game. 11 scoring shots between Darling and Allen. We're lucky they didn't capitalise more.
  • How good is Sonny? 6 goals in 1.5 games after missing a good chunk towards the end of pre season. He just makes the forward line look so much better.
  • Speaking about forward line, it was so beautiful actually seeing a leading forward. Amiss superb. Can't wait to see what he looks like with more games pumped into him.
  • Taberner useless up forward but took a few good marks long down the line. His forward 50 delivery is shocking though. I'd keep him in though as long as it means he takes up the oppos KPD.
  • Darcy much better. Actually taking a few marks and could have had 3 goals.
  • Jackson still dropping a lot that he should take. But still big improvement since last week. Also 7 tackles for a big man is good. Felt like at least he'd follow up with the second effort every time he dropped something. Nice seeing the players get around him after that first goal.
  • You can see how much faster we're able to move the ball when we are marking or crumbing those long down the line kicks.
  • Switta was superb. Best on ground for me. Just so much footy smarts and so good at breaking the line.
  • Third quarter we completely changed how we were playing. There was no taking the game on. It was so slow and safe and led to nothing but stoppages. There was one point where the ball lived in our f50 for about 5 stoppages (and 3 missed htbs btw) and we couldn't get anything out of it.
  • Liam Henry was shocking. Felt like every good thing he did he would undo in the next possession. And they were all cat 10 errors. Don't see how he survies this week.
  • Actually thought Hughes did quite well, especially when going back to help in defence.
  • Wilson tried to take the game on a lot last week. This week he was our slowest to do so. Would take years to decide where to kick it.
  • Johnson with some really classy stuff from limited opportunities.
  • Bullied in the contest again. Really need to fix that before we actually start competing.

What makes q3 disastrous, is that the season is a marathon, not a sprint.

They were down on key players (an advantage to be used), by putting our foot on their throats in q3 we could have minimised on the effort required in the last half before we put a win out of doubt. Instead, we needed big efforts by Switta and others to get us up, having to go harder, we had extra (needless) risk of injury.

We still need legs for the next game on a 6 day break and so on.
I don't understand this sentiment, it comes from underestimating the effort they put it to stay in the game. We absorbed what they had left, sure they landed a few hits, but then we crushed them when they finally broke.

Everyone has these ridiculous overblown expectations that to be a good side you should never lose a quarter. We did what we had to do on the day and won by 7 goals, well played Freo.

West Coast board right now.

Just wanted to get a congratulations in for your round 3 flag.
And yet it was your blokes playing kamikaze style for their lives out there while ours barely got out of second gear. Your captain was punching walls....

Quite the show. Obviously meant a lot. :$

Yeah so much this.
Them carrying on about our gf because a few players had the audacity to celebrate goals etc but then at the same time commending their team for how much “effort “ they put in .
Reckon that’s the hardest WC have put in for a game of footy in years .
The fact that their blokes were blowing up and getting injured just confirmed how much they were trying

Henry has been one of our best over the first 2 games. Today he was dogshit but there is no need to stick the knife in yet. Someone really needs to work with him on his set shot routine. He is too casual and gets no momentum through his kick and they tend to fall short.

Goal kicking was so much better. The fact we were accurate for once was almost enough to cause movement in my nether region. I didn't think our ball movement was as bad as others have been making out in the first 2 games. The forwards actually marking the ball inside 50 and subsequently converting helps make others look good. That one lead from Amiss in the 1st quarter where it was a proper lead and whoever had the ball hit him on the chest was magical. This is why he needs to play. He actually knows how to lead.

Darcy was great but the hitouts to the opposition are getting annoying. There was a sequence in the 3rd quarter where we had numerous stoppages in our forward line. Darcy every time kept hitting to the boundary where there were 3-4 Eagles players and none of us. He seemed to just be hoping Shooter could run onto it.

The 3rd quarter was a disgrace but the 10-0 free-kick count continually robbing our momentum and giving it to them didn't help matters. Not sure why we couldn't get a free for htb when there were numerous blatant ones not called.

The blue and yellow ******** shit campaigner supporter who kept chanting "where is Brayshaw's jaw" amongst other things walking to the train after the game can go and **** himself with a butchers knife.

That patch in the third was so frustrating. Kept hitting it to the same spot but at the same time there were 3 times where the wce player took on the tackler and didn't dispose of it. Then calling the next 50/50 htb call against us, and not calling a few more obvious ones on the eagles is where the momentum really swung I thought. Knew it was bad but 10-0 bad was shocking.

Somewhere between happy with it and I’ll take it.

Good to get more goals into Amiss and Jackson, while Serong and Aish were great. Walters also providing ready leadership.

I’m not sure we win that if they kept their players healthy. Our game plan is so fragile and vulnerable to being choked, does make for good watching when flying though.

I think we win it even with their players still healthy. 22 point lead at half time that was maintained throughout most of the third quarter before they got two quick ones with some help from the umpires.

Fair enough, I can see that playing out too.

I always get the fear when I see Shuey start to get going, I had that ol feeling rising.
