Autopsy Freo outclassed by the Crows

Full disclosure ... I'm sitting poolside in KL drinking Tiger so I haven't watched the game.

But we are 1 and 3 and the footy I have seen has been dogshit. There is enough cattle in this squad to be highly competitive.

Sack the coach. Send Henry to the McGoos.

No ... eff that ... send him to the Pinjarra ammo's
Try Leo Aldi sell it as well. Tastes better than that watered down wife basher shite.

Today was just confirmation that we are a pretty ordinary side now.

There are all sorts of problems and few obvious solutions:

  • Lack of big bodies in the middle. What happened to Jackson the midfielder? Didn’t see him in the middle today other than in the ruck.
  • Little run out of defence. Walker was the exception but no run from anyone else.
  • The wings. I don’t like to bag players but Henry was poor today - we need to try something else. NOD gets a free run on bf but has a long way to go to became a decent player at this level. We miss Acres - none of our current options are anywhere close.
  • Everyone knows our forward line is not up to scratch. We need better ball movement and higher quality forward entries to negate our lack of skill and talent. Tabs had a pretty poor day but I think he is still a better kpf than Treacy at the moment.

Not sure that bagging or dropping players will make much difference. A lot of the poor performance has to be put on the coach. The team is not playing with any speed, coherence, flair or enthusiasm.

Acres and NOD complemented each other very well. Still for the life of me can't understand getting rid of Acres.

Longmuir in the press conference was pretty much right about this

"I thought the biggest issue started around the ball and our ability to win the ball, and we should be well aware as a team now that ball movement flows off the way you win the ball"

But that's been said every week and still no results.

Because it's still a continuing issue. The eagles win was a bandaid. If they couldn't beat an undermanned eagles last week there would be no hope. Up until shuey and rest went down it was deja vu. That's why going into last quarter it was close until we ran over top of them

I don’t even think it’s a speed of movement thing anymore, watching other games, only Collingwood are noticeably quicker to me. The difference is;
A) we basically can’t win a ground ball out of the middle to save ourselves
B) if we do win it, either the forwards aren’t leading correctly or the mids have no faith kicking to them because we almost never can hit up a lead to advantage. It was uncanny today in that third term where they started going harder at the ball and despite like 5 good quick clearances, we didn’t look like scoring. It was infuriating

I can’t care anymore. It’s not fair to my wife, kids and dog for me to be shitty all weekend because some idiots halfway around the world can’t get their shot together.

I love your post. Thank you.

People think we’re joking when we say we revolve Freo around our lives but we do. We pay our membership, we buy the merchandise and we support our club. We plan important dates around Freo’s draw. We do everything for the club but they do fuc.k all for us in return. The biggest losers are our families who have to deal with our moods and pain. Money that could buy better clothes for the kids, nicer car for the wife. Bigger house for the family.

I agree with you. I feel nothing now. Take care of your families/friends and just treat Freo the way they’ve been treating us. Like absolute shi.t. Call out what you see and don’t give a crap about fellow Freo supporters who try to spin positives out of turd.

Bell is more scared of player managers than Freo members. That tells you everything about the club. They print money for themselves.

We don’t want or need money, something players/coaches/admin always want more of.

We want a useless silver cup that paying members/supporters don’t even get to keep or even touch.

It's all well and good saying that but we've seen an obviously misfiring midfield for weeks now and outside of dropping Brodie (which was bold admittedly but also questionable given he's our only fit semi-experienced inside mid) and rotating Jackson through intermittently last week, there's been very little change. Smarter observers than me can describe how ineffectual our setup around the ball is at the moment...and the fact that even though we easily won clearance, we were pretty much bystanders for the second and third efforts (-28 or something Longmuir mentioned in his presser) is damning.

If Adelaide's midfield can beat us up, lord help us over the next month against the Dogs or Brissy.

Once this year is officially cooked in a month or so, I'm hoping we at least see Chapman rotating through. Erasmus hopefully will present his case as well, it's an oversimplification but I'm fine with his outside game being below average for the time being if he can just provide a solid chop out for Serong and Brayshaw.

e say anything about defensive pressure from the midfield. Why the Crows were able to waltz it out if their backline got a shot at goal?

Have a good look at Chapman, should have added 5kg to his frame.
He’s not the only one, it took Malthouse at the eagles to create supermen.

Even if we do win the ball, we are currently let down by basic skill errors, which just compounds the situation. Can't hit the target or fumbling. Our mids do not have the polish as others. At least with Mundy you could pretty much be assured he would hit the target lace out. Makes a huge difference

A post of brilliance. Pure passion and full of truth. Bravo.

Yep. Chapman would get so easily pushed off the ball. Think there was that game against roos or St Kilda that happened

He doesn't need to become a Fyfe. He's got a completely different skillset and it'd be stupid to try and shape him into an inside mid.

But given we have a glut of players that can play off the half-back flank, it's worthwhile seeing where some of their skills might be better used.

So with MJ coming on, was he as puffed out as last week? Last week it was put down to maybe nerves.

Well said mate. Sums up my thoughts exactly. It hurts to think of all the time and effort and energy sacrificed to this club in the hopes they’ll turn it around. But they don’t reciprocate. So I’m done.
