Probably a good thing we traded our first. JL would probably convince the recruiting team to bid on him at pick 1.I hear that there's another Bailey Banfield in the next draft...
Lol backline is not solidBro... and by bro I mean never my bro. Our backline is solid. The absolute s**t support they get out of our forward line and our exhausted midfield thats trying to hold the fort is atrocious.
Anyone watching AFL and what the administration want knew how the game was being engineered.Last year was a bit of an anomaly.
This year seems to have caught JL by surprise this tactic other teams have of kicking goals.
If only we’d foreseen the way the game was headed we could maybe have drafted a few players who have a gift for the attacking side of the game.
Oh well, back to bottom 4 where hope goes to die and haven’t we given away all our first & second round draft picks?
Should be good watching Jackson drop everything that comes his way
Wasn't really an endorsement just what's going on with the other forwards not being able to take a mark anywhere. Not a ringing endorsement when the bulk of them are uncontested backwards of the wing.
From a stats perspective:
This isn't a side bereft of talent, despite a few stuff ups from the players. The defensive structure simply doesn't allow scoring from D50 when Freo force the opposition to turn it over.
- Equal inside 50s
- Comfortably beat them in clearances
- Much lower scoring shots and marks inside 50
- At one point Healy noted that 6 out of 32 D50 rebounds turned into inside 50s
If I wasn't already bald I'd have lost my hair at the amount of times it was turned over, Freo stream forward and then hesitate as they have literally no one to kick it to. Then as it's being kicked to a teammates' back (who is hauling arse to try to offer something up forward) it gets coughed up, Adelaide pumped it back inside 50 to a disrupted defence, and scored.
Painful.
Everything bar SerongI couldn't watch the game fortunately, anyone care to give a brief summary of what went wrong?
Don't just look at stats lol. Watch it and you can see who wins clearances and hard ball gets. Adelaide clearly dominated. From a stats perspective:

Do you mean Simple Minds or Collective SoulAnyone got the number for Collective Minds handy?
We’re low energy and reflects the low energy nature of the coachIN all our losses our opponents brought more intensity as a team . Some of our players are bringing It but not enough. We always seem under pressure and can’t handle it.
I don't know. A complete new forward system perhaps minus Tabs? From what I've seen in the WAFL and 20 games of AFL, Treacy probably isn't the answer. I still think we need two talls in the forward line. We could throw the young guys to the wolves and just declare season over, might just about be season over anyway. That's our problem.
Taberner is simultaneously our only solution and our biggest problem.
He's our best key forward - that is a fact - but what are our alternatives?
Our defence has been pretty bad all year. Always going to struggle up forward with the lack of quality up there, and the midfield was only going to mildly improve with the loss of Mundy, but our defence has gone backwards in a big way. It is no longer our strength. Probably not even our strongest area of the ground.
HouseworkWell that was rough. How's everyone coping? I'm gonna swallow a whole bunch of CBD oil and go beach fishing. There's better things than footy. Has to be.
North and West Coast were last and second last in 2022, even West Coast scored pretty easily against us in the first quarter last week.Up until today they were still one of the better sides in terms of points conceded. Ball movement is another matter but that seems to be more of a coaching directive.
Pearce in particular had a shocker but they weren't helped by the midfield today and as I mentioned, they have been the line that's bailed us out/kept us in games for the last 3 seasons under Longmuir.
It's still the strongest area of the ground but even that strength isn't really what it was last season.
