he paid it for holding the man, Margetts was blinded. to the location of the ball because the players were between him and the ball, he guessed the opposition didn’t take possession, which he did!

Everyone in the stands could see the Gold Coast player grab the ball then get wrapped up, Margetts couldn’t.

Edited for accuracy

The Eagles? On paper I think they’re a top 4 team. You could easily name 10 A graders in their 22. I think they’re underperforming.
Absolutely!

How many teams have 12 All Australians?

McGovern
Gaff
Rioli
Ryan
NicNat
Shuey
Kelly
Sheppard
Kennedy
Darling
Hurn
Yeo

They should be top 4

U wot. They’re only up there due to their accuracy in front of goal. We have them covered everywhere else. Swap those two stats and they’re bottom four.

Doesn’t mean I’m waving the gold and blue flag. If anything, I think it’s an indictment that they’re performing well below expectations. They have had a bad run with injuries but made some interesting calls on the match committee front. I would be disappointed if I was a supporter.

I think there's a lot to be said for this.
But we desperately need to make elite umpiring a professional full time job. Umpires should not be buddies with players, shouldn't be training with teams to get fit. Certainly shouldn't be making fun of players and intimating they'll never give them a free because they're a ducker, as is reported Margetts 'jokingly' told Walters on a plane to the hub last year. Can you imagine a champions league ref saying to a player on a plane they won't give them a free because they're a diver?
Umpiring standards need to be raised off the field as a prerequisite to them being raised on the field.
I’m not sure if I’ve told this one before on here but when I met Maggots about 6 years ago he regaled with obvious glee how Hawthorn used to show their appreciation to the umpires by inviting them on all expenses paid trips to the Gold Coast with the team .
Could have blown me over with a feather He was deadly serious.
Makes a lot of sense looking back on their Dynasty.

I think it points to exactly the opposite personally. We finally draft a natural forward and he makes an immediate impact.

Stop drafting players who aren't natural forwards and trying to mould them into forward positions. Draft more natural forwards please - clearly it works!
Not sure where I said the opposite of that ? but I agree wholeheartedly.

Sir Alex Ferguson would be proud.

Even though I was so drunk I forgot the game ever happened, some umpiring decisions just.....fk it im not going there

Just watched the replay why are people saying Tucker was woeful? He found some decent targets both inside and outside the arc, decent disposal all round. Got run down twice that's about it.

People need their whipping boy and can't take it out on Acres this week.
He improved in the second half but geez his bad was VERY bad , even by Dockery standards.
IMHO of course

The inconsistency with holding the ball and push in the back this year is mind numbing.

I guess every year it’s something different that’s over umpired and controversial and then it settles down the following year.
Can’t put years against them but from recent memory :

Chopping the arms - 2012 ?
Tunnelling ( taking the legs ) - 2018?
Deliberate out of bounds - ?
Entering the exclusion zone - ?

Who is Travis Colyer’s “buddy” ?.

Pump him up, for geezus sake !!!!. He was whipping material, and is now a vital cog in the team.

Sonny, watch some tapes of Colyer’s plays, you may learn something !!!!?

my bad. I was preparing to back him when he took advantage. With that right angle he was sure to miss.
Credit to him that he took it upon himself to better himself. I think he’ll get another year.

He needs to play midfield or wing. He’s lethal forward of centre, not across half back.
As much as Aish dislikes it, his best footy is half back.

At my workplace that is a sackable.

Accepting a gift is corruption.
