KPF who is fierce at the contest, can mark can kick. He’s kicked bags at the lower level and threatened to at the top level too now. Logan McDonald who will probably be a gun player has not done anything like that.

There’s a lot to talk about here. Firstly, we have had a stroke of luck with COVID cancelling Victorian footy last year because we finally have our top talent young KPF and it cost us NOTHING.
Secondly, either recruiting is even more about throwing darts in the dark than I thought, or he must have been fairly unimpressive as a junior to slide so much even despite the lack of footy last year. Considering the weight of value for good talls vs midfielders and flankers.

I should have clarified, this year. Of course Logan kicked a lot of goals in the WAFL last year but Treacy didn’t have a chance to. And he’s kicked more AFL goals due to Treacy’s slower start, but (correct me if I’m wrong) has t looked like tearing a game apart like Treacy has the past 2 weeks.

Anyway both guns, the point is McDonald went top 5 ND while Treacy only RD.

We were at the game. Just after our prolonged booing in the 3rdQ he pointedly gave away another soft free in the centre - it seemed very "up you, Freo!"

I rewatched later & counted 5-6 times that Dunstall and co incl. Pav said "don't think that's a free, do you? (against us)".

Commentators will say something like "puzzling" for clearly wrong decisions. Analysts will hint at poor umpiring before the next panellist will quickly jump in with the cliche about this being the hardest sport to umpire.

The first step to fixing a problem is to acknowledge the problem. AFL House wont do anything until there is consistent shitstorm in the media.

Stop drafting players who aren't natural forwards and trying to mould them into forward positions. Draft more natural forwards please - clearly it works!

Finally able to watch the game. This commentator’s voice is like nails down a chalkboard. Who listened to her speak and thought ‘yeah let’s get her behind a mic!’ FMD.

Yep, for the first time in my life I switched off the commentary.
Not only is her voice annoying - some of the shite she was sprouting was horrible. Can’t remember the Freo player but he chose the wrong option and her call “player ‘x’ just made the worse decision of his life”

He was atrocious both ways. Mates and I decided it’s not a Freo thing... he’s just a really bad umpire.

Yes it is puzzling how an 18 year old tall forward who immediately looks comfortable at AFL level slid to the rookie list. I’m even amazed that Taberner was just a rookie, but it took about 6 years before he settled in. Treacy is a natural. Why didn’t any other recruiter rate him?

They won't call it out because the AFL doesn't want a negative image for umpiring, as there is already a problem with getting anyone to be an umpire. Umpiring is terrible, but it is to be expected when the talent pool is so small.

Media and clubs would have clear instructions to not criticise umpires. A few weeks ago that Tom Morris clown was on his First Crack show and he was going off his tree about one of the coaches calling out the umpires, saying how unacceptable it is due to the flow down impact on grass roots umpiring (e.g. umpires quitting, umpires getting physical abuse in amateur games, etc).

We preferred Western to Treacey as well. I mean it looks like genius recruiting, but if you actually rate Treacey, you don't scheme to get him in the rookie draft.

Can you imagine a champions league ref saying to a player on a plane they won't give them a free because they're a diver?
