Deadline to upgrade rookies expires tomorrow Friday 31 October at 2pm.
So it's 'D' day for Frosty.
I think they will leave him on the rookie list.
Upgrade via LTI prior season commences.
Keep remaining players on the senior list.
Use picks 5, 30 & 48 as live picks in the draft.

Mods - can merge this with Rookies 2015 or Draft Strategy after 2pm tomorrow.

Still inconsistent and needs to improve to cement his spot in the side. While he played every game for the pies last year, I'm afraid the shape of our list means he will miss the upgrade. Happy to be proven wrong.

Delist Ramsay and rookie him

I'm sure we'll want to use all 4 picks in the National Draft, so he will have to stay on the Rookie List, which is rather unfair on him, but it has to be done. I expect he will be in our round 1 team also, we simply need to make him a Nominated Rookie, or give him the spot Scharenberg's LTI would free up.

He was the only player who "cemented" a spot in our side in 2014.

The lad has to be rewarded

Frost is our best hope at fullback for the next 4-5 years.
He's come a long way in a short time and I still have faith he can become a quality key defender. Very important year for Frost.

Wouldn't it affect his pay whether he's a senior player or a nominated rookie?

I just think it sends the wrong message to the playing group if someone like Frost is not rewarded for his efforts

Didn't he just sign a new contract, doesn't matter if he is on the rookie list or not for another year if he can still play due to injury. allows us to pick another player in the draft.

He played 22 respectable games in 2014 not many in our team did that!

You have to reward that in my book. It's the least he deserves.

Hasn't he only been on our list for 2?
Yes, just 2013/14. It no doubt would affect his pay somewhat, but if he has another full season like this year (and why wouldn't he?), he should still do very well money wise. We absolutely don't want to waste pick 48, and I think relegating someone like Ramsay who has had a brief taste of senior football would be a cruel move.

As I mentioned in another thread. He signed a 2 year deal recently. He can only be on the rookie list for 3 years. If he remains on the rookie list, he still has a year to run on his contract. At the end of 2015 he'd have to be elevated to the senior list via the National Draft. Everyone taken in the ND get a mandatory 2 year deal.

Is it as simple as just upgrading his contract at the end of 2015 from a 1 year to 2 year deal? Why not just give him a 3 year deal now. One as a rookie, then his 2 years from the ND.

I think he's getting elevated tomorrow and there's a delisting and relist a player as a rookie to occur.

He recently signed a 2 year deal.
By the time that deal ends, he would have been on list for 3 years.
The max you can be a rookie is 3 years.
Contracts can't be 1 year rookie, 2nd year senior in this stage.

3 years is indeed the limit before players have to be upgraded or delisted. Hawthorn's Derick Wanganeen (recently delisted) spent 4 years on the Rookie List, after spending the maximum 3 years, being delisted then picked up again in the Rookie Draft. I'm sure we'll see Frost permanently on the Primary List soon enough, I'm not too sure if it will be by tomorrow, though.

Impossible to say until our recruitment policy unfolds. If Frost is not promoted, we can be certain they've worked out a strategy that benefits our recruitment plan but also allows Frost to play round 1.

I was lucky enough to be at Maxwells 200th game in Sydney!

Frosts performance on Buddy that night was awesome. Just on that performance I would sign him up on a Buddy type contract....LOL

P.S I love the way he tackles opposition players.

Key defenders don't grow on trees, promote him, even if that means he's no guarantee of playing a game, would be by no means be the worst player on our senior list, not even close.
