Rumour Future of the club (Bevo, board, assistant coaches, football department)

Who’s to say that the club wasnt having informal negotiations with his management over the previous months and that he wouldn’t make a commitment until after Collingwoods season had concluded? It’s no accident that these stories are leaked to the media in the days prior to a described being made. It’s pretty obvious that it came directly from us as a way of getting Leppitsch to s**t or get off the pot so we could move on.

Take a look at Leppitsch decision from the less condemnatory angle of the club and see it as an affirmation of the calibre of candidate that they are pursuing. In the end the may or may not succeed in finding someone with Leppitschs credentials to fill the role this year but if they don’t it won’t be because they only went after low hanging fruit. Or the obtuse notion that NobOdY LikEs BEveRidGe!!! Meme in here.
Have been saying for years on here that we are still the only club not to have ever had a former senior coach as an assistant. I feel this type of person is essential in a high pressure atmosphere of coaching. These types have been there done that, often don’t have ambitions to go back there, but have experience and wisdom. Why wouldn’t the club appoint someone like this? We have the same money as any other club for the coaching panel.

The whinging from some of our supporters today has been nothing short of embarrassing. The way people are acting over trading in a player that improves our bottom six and improving our draft hand is actually quite pathetic really.

The narrative pushed that nobody wants to work with Beveridge despite the fact that we had assistants, and good ones too that stuck with him for years. If you haven’t bought into the reactionary doomsday mindset and actually read the behaviour behind our clubs actions, it is pretty apparent we have a few names lined up, and are waiting to appoint a director of coaching position before we finalise our coaching structure for 2024.

The club may have been late to support Bevo but they aren’t North/Essendon level incompetent. There is no way we would be as confident and as straightforward with our trades and pick swaps as we have been if we knew that next year would be a total failure with a substandard coaching lineup.

The vast majority of posts about Harmes have been positive about bringing him in. A short bit of chatter about F3 vs F4 but in general there's been very little whinging, certainly not to an embarrassing or pathetic level in my opinion.

I heard Rohan Smith just got a "WYD?" text

I think Harmes is a good get. I have tremendous faith in Sam Power, he seems to really know what he is doing.
But this thread is on the coaching, which just seemed shambolic towards the end of the season, including some very strange press conferences from Bevo. I still believe in Bevo but he seriously needs some strong management around him. Chris Grant doesn’t seem to be the person. A former senior coach would be a start. But we actually haven’t even heard from him as members on our season 2023? Or nothing from Grant either. The club keeps putting out Bont? Something very strange going on there, why the silence from Bevo? The fans intuitively know something is not right, because why would there be so much unrest across all the media and social media channels. And the club is not helping by saying nothing. We all love Bevo, but we all know he’s not copping, I don’t think he knows this yet?

I agree and have said as much, but these are an historic airing of grievances that should’ve been addressed over the last couple of years as we’ve ridden a roller coaster of indifferent form with a coach who this year in particular was running on empty. The point is that regardless of the final result the club is searching out a top line senior coaching appointment to prop up the shaky foundations of Beveridges leadership.

I get the need in here of a sugar hit announcement but it pretty clear that the club is working towards fulfilling it commitment and will their announcements in a time that is strategically in their best interests.

That’s when this discussion should happen earnest. Right now it’s much ado about **** all, foaming at the mouth and played out dad jokes at the expense of Matt Spangler.

The one thing it’s been good for today is giving me of a diversion as I sit in a hospital 8 hours post op, not bothering to spell check. but enough about me.

It's clear the club is trying and there's obviously more going on behind the scenes that we aren't privy to. The Leppitsch news was disappointing given the lack of anything else positive coming out of the club regarding coaches, so far, and another target we've publicly pursued is missed. When all we have to go on is snippets about guys we're chasing and missing the natives will continue to get restless. Doesn't mean it won't end up ok but patience was clearly already stretched after the diabolical end to the season.

The biggest melts are still on hold, for now.

We have struck out on every single key target. Something is going on behind the scenes at the kennel
Yep a football manager that has been in the role for too long and it's time for him to move on Love yeah work Chris and always will but your time is up as the football director club for this club

Hope you recover quickly from your post-season operation. Back to full strength for a full pre-season?
I’m definitely not after a ‘sugar-hit’, hardly actually even looking at the trade/draft thread. I really really want a high class footy manager/experienced, strong wise assistant coach to help Bevo, even intimidate Bevo a bit, because as much as he wouldn’t necessarily like it to begin with, it would help him. And he needs help badly.
Rest up take care.

I should clarify. I’m talking about all our social channels in general. Facebook and Twitter were extremely unbearable and utterly toxic today. We had a few people on here get like that but overall it’s been okay.

We’d all be better off being a little more off-line this time of year, but we’re all flies drawn to shit and can’t help ourselves taking a big old bite and talking ceaselessly about our interpretations of its flavour. One man’s shit tastes of sugar and another man’s of plain old shit. That footy on the interwebz!

Thanks. I wasn’t speaking of you specifically it’s just a general comment on this board with it incessant need to know that has devolved to a point of making pleas to IDK posters. It made this place a pathetic drag over the past week or do.

As for the rest of you post we’re in furious agreement.

Thanks again.

It's like listening to Trade Radio. You can spend hours and days religiously tuning into every bit of it or alternatively swan in at the last minute to read the conclusion and the result is the same. But what really counts are the friends you make, the melts you give out and the advertisements you consume along the way.

Id sooner stick a rusty star picket through my ears than listen to TR. at least here I get time wasting amusement, faux fury and the occasional tasty peanut of info from its giant pile of shit.

Starting to look like no one wants to work with bev
That would not be a complete surprise.
Very sad for our club and its immediate future if true though.

I’m clinging to the small hope that it’s not.

Mark Stevens reckons Egan is a ripper option.
