Rumour Future of the club (Bevo, board, assistant coaches, football department)

Not Bulldogs related but topical based on the rumors we are looking at goal kicking.
One look at this bloke's twitter page tells you all you need to know about why no club is interested in his services. Not to mention his outlandish claims about his own coaching abilities.

Have a look back at the 2015 AFL draft and you see just how good Dalrymple and his team were at the time. After jagging Bont in 2014, they picked the eyes out of some later picks whilst Essendon to Aaron Francis and Darcy Parish at 5 and 6 and probably claimed they won the draft. I don’t know whether Bevo or Dalrymple were ultimately responsible for 2016 (really a combination effort) but it’s just horrifically sad that Dalrymple left for whatever reason. Cox plate winning run of draft picks during that period of time.

We had a fair run of rising star nominations during his time at the club

I think Dalrymple and Bevo both had a hand in the success, but so did McCartney. The hard edge he gave the team was built on by Bevo , who was supplied the soldiers by Dalrymple.

I actually remember this bloke from when he was helping Tredrea who, to be fair, dramatically upped his goal kicking tally while he was helping.

Suspect the fact he’s insane is the problem.

Now that I think about it he and Tredders probably had quite a bit of common ground.

Worshipping at the alter of Dalryimple. A generation old past time that most have participated in. Myself included.

Interesting to look at the players he brought in over his time at the club.

Outright nailed, smacked out of the park, with later or rookie selections. Hard to do, and only achievable by the best out there. Credit where credit is due.
Luke Dalhaus
Tory Dickson
Bailey Dale
Caleb Daniel
JJ

First round picks that more often than not teams get right. A few gems in there including the GOAT Bont, Macrae’s another possibly. Clay lucky to be in there. Not sure many clubs would take Clays career if it meant handing over a 1st rounder. Anyway, credit where credit is due…
Marcus Bontempelli
Aaron Naughton
Ed Richard’s
Josh Dunkley
Jake Stringer
Jack Macrae
Clay Smith (B Grader)

Aaaaand the rest. A small handful of decent players that haven’t/didn’t hit their potential across a whole career. One or two lucky ones, and the rest that were downright awful…

Didn’t realise how many spuds he recruited until now. He seemed to go at a rate of 80% busts, 20% guns. Not a lot of middle ground.

Pretty irrelevant if you don’t include where they were taken in the draft, guys like Jong & Rourke etc are a massive success compared to 99% of rookie list picks, if you play a handful of games as a rookie you’re doing much much better than the avg. So pretty harsh to label some of these guys as busts.

I've always wondered the same.

Dixon is a flog BUT he's been a contractor goal kicking coach around the league for a while.

I cannot remember for the life of me who he worked with and they improved out of sight? Was it Cloke?

He bangs on about thinking about your best sexual experience during the run up or something which seems to work lol.
Does that mean my run up only needs to last a few seconds and afterwards there’s just awkward silence?

When exactly did he start for us? You're missing English in the list of first round successes, and I assume you've left out father-son picks like Libba, Hunter and Wallis deliberately? Even though its the top end of the draft having such a good hit rate in the first round is rare, plus a small handful of late gems (I'd include Williams in that too).

His time at Sydney has been a bit hit and miss, academy selections aside. In particular his 2019 draft is interesting, taking Stephens (5), Gould (26), Taylor (36) - all big failures and gone, but then Warner as a massive success at pick 39. In his time there he's also brought in Rowbottom, McInerney, Campbell, McDonald but nothing at all of note (so far) from the last 2 drafts.

Rourke a massive success? Bit of an exaggeration. JJ and Dalhaus were a massive success, Rourke was a decent cheap pick up. Jong similar.

First year 2009 I believe after coming in 08 off season.

Yep, I missed English. Should be in there. His farewell gift to the club.

Left out F/S. Fell in his lap. Can’t include.

Your spuds list has three premiership players.

Yeah for anything worthwhile you probably need to at least compare the player’s career games played against the median career games played at their pick.

E.g. the median career games played for a player taken in the rookie draft is somewhere between 0 and 4.5. So picks like Roarke Smith and Lin Jong were hugely successful in context.

Lipinski, not with us.

Ahh that’s right.

Was a pretty high pick Lipinski. Probably couldn’t consider it a Dalrymple success due to his flag at the pies. Was lucky to be in the side.

I wonder how many clubs would hand over pick 25 if they knew it was for a Lipinski. A lot would pass I reckon.
