i know we use Lade as our ruck coach but Greg Stafford just finished up at Dees
He would be a great addition to our ruck/Forward coaching staff
He was one of the driving forces that help improved Melbourne so quickly once they got the talent in
Classy from Whitten JnrBeveridge becomes longest-serving coach in Club history
The milestone will be celebrated this weekend against the GWS Giants.www.westernbulldogs.com.au
Luke Beveridge will become the longest-serving coach in Club history when he coaches his 229th game this weekend.
Eclipsing the previous milestone held by Ted Whitten Snr (228 games between 1957 – 1971), Beveridge’s coaching record is not to be dismissed.
Since taking over the helm in 2014, Beveridge has won one premiership, taken his side to two Grand Finals and 12 finals (both Club records), and holds the highest winning percentage (56.58%) among anyone who has coached 100 or more games in the red, white and blue.
He also claimed back-to-back AFL Coaches’ Association Coach of the Year awards in his first two seasons.
“Dad used to always say ‘records are meant to be broken’,” Ted Whitten Jr told the Herald Sun this week.
“I’m pretty sure Dad and Charlie would be rapt with what Bevo has done with the club, like all the supporters are.
“He has done a great job, the fact that he brought a premiership to the club (in 2016) was just unbelievable. He has had his detractors but he has proven them all wrong.
“He is hanging in there and the side is playing as well as it has for some time.”
A win over GWS this Sunday will lock up the Dogs’ spot in the 2024 finals series.

Quite complicated to analyse, I mean 18 teams now in Bevo’s tenure, fixture favouring bigger clubs etc.How does the 56.58% compare against other contemporary premiership coaches e.g. Hardwick, Clarko, Horse, Scott etc.? Oliver G

Honestly this record just speaks for itself - all the Bevo haters can just clear out
Win today and make finals otherwise move on.
Kind of amusing that the two with the lesser percentage won more flags.Luke is ahead of Hardwick and Clarkson, but behind Longmire and Scott.

Great to get sixth, think thats closer to where we deserve to be.
Its a shame it took so long to get our season going. 11-4 with a 133% after round 8. Definitely top 4 quality after that start but super disappointing to be 3-5 with a pretty soft early draw. Maybe we needed the kick up the arse to kick us into gear. Seemed to up our level as our fixture got tougher.
Sixth might not be the worst spot to be. Don't think we should be scared of any of the teams in the finals, no one is a standout this season. 8th would have had three interstate finals to make the GF, there is a chance a run from 6th might be MCG, MCG, Sydney, MCG. Could definitely open up for us if we are good enough.
Trust the process peopleAll the info i have been given is that he is coaching in 2024 and beyond
Reckon Draper's in Bali already by now?
Draper might not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but he was hung out to dry by the media over this.Draper is an absolute moron and once again will have to catch the finals on Kayo from Bali if the wifi is good enough.
Smith will walk and one or Daniel or Macrae might evaluate their options if they want guaranteed game time but he’s got the team flying without any of them being a critical cog.
