No way. Fyfe is the best player in the league. You are overrating first round draft picks.

No matter what Freo will match the offer. If he really still wants to go, we do what Adelaide did and the trade for better than we would have got for letting him go. Two first and an A grade player that fits our need.

Nothing less.

Yeah good luck with that. Free agency lowers a players value, not to extreme levels but it does undervalue them. In any Case, nobody in the league is worth an A grader AND 2 first round picks.

There have been a few dust up at Norfs intra club matches this week, including one involving Swallow with a dozen team mates needed to break them up.
Imagine if Fyfe was involved in a similar dust up during ours... with all these unsubstantiated rumors of being unliked the likes of Hagdorn and Schwartz would go into overdrive!

Carltons first rounder will likely be between pick 1-4. Cripps is near the Bont's level imo, and will be at least as good as Josh Kennedy (Syd). I would take that deal (obviously by force) but unfortunately i don't deal in hypotheticals.

I don't think Carlton would even entertain a straight swap - Cripps for Fyfe.

Cripps is their poster boy and is someone their fans can enjoy and follow during these downs years. He's the right age for their premiership window in 3-4 years time. Fyfe would be turning 30 just as their window opens which wouldn't be ideal.

Unless Cripps specifically says he wants to leave..... which he hasn't and won't. All accounts he loves it over there.

Would be staggered if he ended up at Saints or Carlton to be quite frank.

Hard to imagine him wanting to go to one of the smaller Vic clubs that sit outside Melbourne's spotlight. Playing on Etihad, training out at Seaford or wherever, especially when he's about to move into the best stadium & facilities in the country (quite possibly as Captain) would be a backwards step for building brand F7. The lifestyle he clearly loves that WA offers him would also take a hit. Kite-surfing through human excrement in Arctic conditions at St Kilda's "beach" isn't exactly the biggest drawcard for a lad who seems allergic to wearing a shirt when off the footy field.

A lot of talk about these clubs having 'war chests' ready to go but many on the East coast seem to forget that Nat's a restricted FA & we're about as cashed up as anyone. On top of all this is the fact that neither of those 2 are realistically any closer to a flag than we are- even though we just had one of our worst Seasons ever (for what it's worth we're paying $18, Saints $26 & Carlton $101 in 2017).

If he was to leave it would most likely be to one of the big boys but we would have to have an even more disastrous Season than last year for that to be a realistic chance I'd think. Our recruiting this pre-Season has certainly done us no harm here either.

Then again, what the f#*k do I know? I hope he stays!

Because Fremantle FC match the deal and Fyfe goes pick #1 in the national draft to Brisbane, who then get to trade him at the end of the year to Carlton for three first round picks.
Yes but name 1 player in the history of the AFL who is worth 3 first round picks? Not to mention a player that has missed multiple games with injury in his career, I love Fyfe and when he's fit he is the most impactful player in the game, but a few are going to be disappointed if they are expecting 3 x first rounders or Cripps and a first rounder for him. If he leaves we won't get close to either of those deals.

If we offered 2 for Cam McCarthy ...

We got an early second rounder for the Mayne vain. In what world did FA lower his value?

Was Cam uncontracted and a Restricted Free Agent at the time? Cam still had 2 years to run on his contract after kicking 35 in his second year.
Cam wouldn't be taken pick #1 in the draft if no deal went through. Fyfe goes #1.

We get very well compensated as long as he doesn't nominate the club that finished last.

Cam would have been taken pick 1 had he been able to enter the draft at the end of 2015 though, there's a reason why the Giants wanted to keep him so badly. I agree we won't be completely ripped off if he leaves but we won't be getting 3 first rounders for him. Just won't happen imo, his injuries alone would put a few clubs off the idea of selling the farm in the way of money and draft picks for him.

If Freo match the deal he is a contracted Freo player. If you go restricted you know that you stay at the club if they match the terms. There is no sign and end up in the draft option. It is accept a deal and that club or your current club.

As long as there is an offer in front of him as soon as another club offers him a deal we can match.

Supposedly the Saints will make a big play - haven't they got two first round picks banked for the 2017 from last yrs trading period?

Can someone please tell me when was the last time Nat Fyfe(if at all) played a full season?

That isnt how it works, the player isn't required or compelled to stay after a matched offer.

After a matched deal the two clubs either trade or the player goes into the draft.
