Gaming headsets are a must buy

Holy shit. $50 for shipping? Anywhere I can get them in Australia? Seems a bit steep.

The add ons do really "add on" quite a bit. $50 odd more for the accessories and $50 for the delivery...

i've never had my a30s get 'hot' on my ears

after a massive session they do get a tiny bit uncomfortable (i have big ears) but they've never felt 'hot'
Yeah, mine never get hot, only a bit sore after maybe a 3+ hour session. And I don't have big ears.:)

Right so just got the A30's delivered. Now if that isn't the worst manual in the world then I don't what is! Seriously I there is no step by step procdure?

I had to go online to to get any kind of idea. I've now got sound and as far as I know people can hear me. Not sure if the optic cable is doing its job. Do you need two of them? Couldn't work it out....Also still have in excess of 10 cables left to use?

Should I have so many leftover?

You only need 1 optic cable, there generally are a few cables left over.

Here's how mine is set up

You have your headset, which plugs into the left of the RX (the smaller part of the mixamp). If the RX needs charging, you plug in the USB cord to it and the PS3.

The TX (the larger part of the mixamp) should be plugged into a power point, it should have the optical cable plugged into the audio in of the TX and the optical one in the PS3, the PS3 chat cable should be plugged into the TX via the 3.55mm headphone plug and the PS3 via USB.

Thanks. Got it all sorted....Now if only Black Ops didn't have such dodgy sound....

All the other cords are explained in the manual. You have cords for use with things like Mobile Phones as well as PC. I actually use the Mobile cord I think it is for my Astro's, because the cable is a lot shorter it allows for less mess, might be annoying if you like more room from the MixAmp to your head though.

It's definitely a poorly put together manual, I looked a the Astro forums to get the proper guide to how I needed it all set up through cords (which are mostly self explanatory) and through the PS3.

True. Chuck on COD4, my GOD the sound is brilliant!

Herald Sun mention net retailer bluemouth.com.au for $99AUD.

Google found ozgamer.com (UK) for $59AUD incl post!

Bit home brand maybe??? $59 is damn cheap though...

Bought these yesterday for $68 at BigW, haven't tried out the mic yet but the game sound quality is excellent, bit weird being able to hear footsteps so clearly in black Ops......i will say though, black Ops has terrible sound, i thought the headset was stuffed at the highest volume but then played Bad Company 2 and it was fine.

Set your BC2 in game settings to "war tapes" mode. Best sounding game I have ever played. EVER! :thumbsu:

Got a pair of Turtle Beach Ear Force X41's last week. Wireless, 7.1 surround sound, automatically adjusts the sound of the game so you can hear your team mates when they talk and the game is really loud, extremely easy to set up. One word, Awesome!!

Hi guys, hope someone can answer this.

Is there any good headsets out there that are compatible with the PS3 and the 360?
Price is not a concern. Obviously chat is a must.

Thanks everyone.
Astro A30's or A40's are both compatible with PS3/360/PC. Very worthy buy.

Thanks for the quick response everyone.
I recently bought a 360 on eBay (don't worry HBK, I still prefer the PS3) and I've ran out of excuses not to justify the purchase.
I know this is just plain lazy but where is the best buy for the A30?:)
http://www.astrogaming.com/ For all your Astro Gaming needs.

They have the wireless and wired models, the only real difference comes down to whether you mind having a fair amount of cords around you while gaming as the wired do have a fair bit.
