quite interesting some of the weekend's results. Belmont? though that was a major result, especially at Corio. Nth going down. Never write off Thomson as they accounted easily for last years runner up. Centrals over a highly recruited Ankie was a little bit of a shock. The rest as expected.

I've been hinting at this for a while fellas.. Belmont could be the real deal!
Haami was fantastic, he kicked the first 5 goals of the game. John Tate marked everything that came near him. GDFL team of the year full back Luke Mahoney played up the ground and gave Belmont the run that was going to be missed from losing Bagga Edwards. The young kid from Grovedale, Rarg Nair played a blinder in the ruck and Tim Carson's brother Tommy, played his best game for the club. The Lion's have pace to burn and will be very hard to match up... I know its only week 1 but with only 15 weeks to go, bring on Inverleigh next week! :)

Did any of their new recruits play? If so, how did they go?
For mine, the result was predictable and nothing for them to get excited about.

bevan hirst played a blinder and so did gun recruit nick arundall. Chris hemly didnt play but is keen to get out on the track next week. Should be an interesting week at the panthers domain when alot of players come back from injury or representive squads

Blokes playing for the club and the love of the game, a beer with your mates and the bloke you played on... I'd like to see that! Money's killing community footy. Good luck to all on the weekend, Lion's by plenty over the Devils. John Tate to kick a big bag full... Roar

Especially the amount of money that Belmont is paying Haami Williams to coach Belmont.

But don't worry he is worth every cent as you found out on the weekend.

BTW how did his little apprentice Tim Smith go on the weekend.

Belmont were very hard at it on saturday and looked like a real fit side, have got a strong foward line, which will trouble alot of sides. Corio on the other hand looked unfit and second rate, where are corio at? are they still a side that might be able to push for a top 5 position are will they struggle around the bottom of the ladder.

Note with interest Heath Buck kicking 3 and BOG for the Werribee 2's. Could he be in line for a call up?
Yes i did see heath play heard he was playing so i made a special trip and went early to watch was quiet early but second half was a class above. Would think he will play in 1s sooner than later.

you would think it would depend on his radio commitments, but looking at the AFL draw Geelong play on Sunday and not sure what other game K Rock will be broadcasting for the weekend.I would think it may be Kangaroos v Bombers on friday night which would allow Heath Buck to Play.

corio in alot of trouble loads of injurys not exspecting much early but it might be to late for them with shortened season. you cant take to much out of the game belmont were good but corio had 8 senior players out.

I wish we could pay him more! Tim Smith went well. With all the kids Haami has at the club, there was an interesting clearance to the club late last week. Good to have Danny Warren on board... :thumbsu:

Tim Smith could not get a game at Ammos reserves in 2005 the next year he played seniors. Its a credit to him. He's a good young kid who will give his all.

You are lucky to have Haami he is a great coach and a ripping bloke to.

I heard harris has broken his hand (not too sure if its confirmed yet?), aitken hamstring in the first 5mins on saturday, holizfield, clifford didnt play as well. plus a couple of others out so im sure the devils will be test there depth in the next few weeks. good luck to them:thumbsu:

na not broken just bad bruising should be right this week got a hit there thats all
we i suppose the devils can only hope its brusing and not broken. it sounds like they have a few injurys at the minute and cant afford to lose another big bloke......

I think Centrals will surprise most teams with how quick they're. They might not be the biggest team around but they have plenty of toe. Anakie were quite good but were killed by the Centurions pace after half time.

Berg for Anakie was very good...Anakie could deveolp into a decent side if they stay injury free.

Didn't see Bazza O'Toole listed in the team, goal kickers or the best from Saturday. Is he playing, injured or what?

yeah my source tell me he is out injured as well for atleast another 3 weeks. so its not looking good for the devils at the minute. Im sure once they get all of there players back on the park they will be right up there as long as they can try and stay in touch with the 5.

Not really sure about the youngsters at Anakie. There was a number 22 playing across half forward who looked pretty young and volitile. He was sent off or dragged in the second quarter for belting someone. When he was on he looked like he could play a bit.

Probably Troy Feldman. he came across from thomson or bell post i think... he would be getting on in age i think.

Anyone catch the East v Inverleigh? How are both teams shaping up and who are the good players for both sides? What are everyones predications for the Centrals V East game this week, include a margin.
