Why not Belmont? They made East look 2nd rate earlier this year. Harder, faster & keener. Why would this change at St Albans?

I actually watched that game . I agree they were harder and maybe keener. They were not faster at all and i think that may be belmonts biggest probelm.

Also if East cant get keen for the finals then something is wrong so i doubt that is something you can hang your hat on come finals time.

I would still agree with statement NO HAAMI NO BELMONT where as East can win even when there better players are down.

BPH seem to be playing the best footy right now. Anakie will test them this week.

Went to watch Bannock v East and though that there might have been a good game until half time after which Bannock came out and smashed East.

They moved the ball very well and gave TMG some very good supply and will be hard to stop.

East looked lazy up forward putting no pressure on Bannock when they ran it out of defence and even though they had the better of the midfield Bannock's run from half back was sensational.

On the face of this game and what I have seen Bannock deserve to be flag favourite.

Just to fill in time, thought I'd try to give my top 3 vote getters at each club:

Anakie: Tate, Berg, Gebbie
Bannok: Woods, A Broom, T mull
BPH: S Lewis, Ellis, Tarr
East: J Coy, S O'leary, P Hoey
Corio: Holzenfield, O'toole,
Belmont: Williams, Tate, Mahoney
North: Alford, Normington, Fitzsimmons
Thomson: Harroit, Gage, Mcleod
Inverleigh: Trotter, Stone, Lewis
Werribee: Wallace, Chugg, Fastuca
Winch: Hardingham, Harvey, Reid
GWSC: Bidmaide, Spengler,

This weeks game at Belmont will be interesting, as space to run will be limited. 4 quarters of contested footy and top spot up for grabs!

I know the season isn't over yet but the coaching talk has already started and first cab off the rank is Rick O'Toole back to Corio with Mark Stewart in tow if they can stump up the cash.

Not happy at all at Newcomb to the point where he nearly threw it in a couple of weeks ago and had to be talked around to continue playing.

You don't know what your talking about, Rick O'Toole won the club B|F on Sunday and the club has signed him up for next year, so I think he will be at Newcomb again.

unfortunately ricky couldn't crack it for a flag at the devils. he had plenty of opportunities to do so but everytime corio looked like taking the big one out the club would self destruct on grand final day. it would be fair to assume that he is better off staying at newcombe.

That's the problem, Corio don't have the money to lure them back. With the likes of Clifford, Holzenfield and Aitken on less than $120/game, how on earth can they afford these two, plus more as rumoured?

Seriously why on earth would he want to go back to Corio?

Seriously who cares. Lets worry about the big games
Belmont v Bannock
East v BPH
Who will win

Good bye werribee, Winch , inverleigh , west , corio, North, anakie looks like and early pre season.

Howdy fellas.. I've got a bit of a problem. I need a lift to work for at least 3 weeks maybe longer, because my cars gonna be stuck out at StAlbans holding my spot on the fence so i can cheer home the mighty Lions through the finals series. But on a serious note, Haami is the only injury worry, He's sprained his foot trying to keep the lid on it!

straight sets board.;)

Hello Kooley. That may be 1 way of looking at it. The other is have a week off, then win 1 game and your in a grand final!
Good result for the Lions but I am still a doubter as I see big problems for you once you move from the childrens playground to the wide expanses of St Albans.

I will stick with a GF featuring East and Bannock.

yeh i recon i think belmont shud consider themselves fair lucky to finish 1st as they are definitely not the best team in the comp
banno v east grand final with bell post hill screwing their season in one game last wk

Hi Nachoes, This is my last post defending where we finished and how we'll go on the "big, scary" StAlbans ground. All Belmont had to do to give themselves a chance to finish on top was to win their last 2 games. Others had the same chance, but failed to take it. To only lose 3 games for the year, Belmont must have played on bigger grounds than only there own. I will grant you that 2 of the loses were away at Winch & Bannockburn, and they did get a scare at West oval, but they are young and fit. Add to that they are riding a wave of self belief. So even if nobody else believes in them, they believe in themselves. To finish on top of the ladder, with a weeks break is just reward for only being beaten 3 times this year. I pose this to the forum, Do the other finalists harbour any doubts about their ability to win the flag? It seems to me that all have had either discipline problems or consistency problems throughout the season. The bottom line is either Thomson or Hill will be gone next week and we'll be waiting for the winner of East and Bannockburn to play for a grand final birth. Well done young Belmont Lions :thumbsu:

I say good on Belmont. At the start of the year i dont think anyone would of picked them on top. Yes it will be hard for them to win it but lets be honest they have got themselves in the best position to do so.

I am an East supporter and think they can win it. If they can beat bannockburn which they havent been able to as of yet they will be matched against Belmont for a Grand Final Birth.

Imagine that East V Belmont Grand Final what would that have paid at the start of the year?

Can Belmont win?
Can East Win?
Who can BEat Bannock?
Are BPH gone?
Is thompson going straight out?

Lets hear some predictions?

thompson to go straight out. the passion isn't there at all and they have no leg speed.

Bannockburn will beat East this week in a close one.

My tip for the finals and how it will go are as follows. I might be way off the mark but at least I will have a crack. I am sure Lion King and others will jump on me for picking East and having Belmont out in straight sets but as I said this is only my opinion and I may be seriously underrating Belmont and overrating East and ignoing Bannock but thats the joy of living here, everyone can have a different opinion.

Week 1
  • East to beat Bannock
  • BPH to beat Thomson
Week 2
  • East to beat Belmont
  • Bannock to beat BPH
Week 3
  • Bannock to beat Belmont
GF
  • East to beat Bannock

i think that bannock on their day are probably the best side in the comp but their problem is consistency, to beat east by 7 goals but then to have loss to north as well just shows that they are beatable any day by any team, the only worrying thing is if they are on their game they can punish, my tip is east as well i think they are not just good but very intimidating and can scare the odd player, and i agree too that belmont will not take to the big ground very well and could be out very quickly.
