Anakie did have internet but after paying out $70,000 last 2 years and not making finals everyone has had to have internet cut off to try to raise more money for 08 season. they would have to be the most disappointed club over the past 2 years theve promised so much and deliverd nothing.

Add Winch to that list. Forked out a fortune, for nothing in return and now have lost a sh*t load of players. Back to the drawing board.

Lets get a bit carried away. Agree they have picked up 2 confirmed A graders in O'toole and Stewart and a potential A grader in Nicholls (I say potential as injuries and other things might hold him back) but the rest (manning, ferguson) are good players not superstars and given where you finished last year you have a bit of catching up to do.

Lets have a look at the lists in Feb when clearances are flowing and everyones cards on the table because at the moment there are a couple of clubs keeping very quiet about recruiting programs and some of the players that might go across may suprise in regard to the quality.

Yeah, have heard the same Drago. To add to O'Toole, Stewy, Wallace etc, I'm lead to believe there are still a few more prominant Geelong names to be included in the GDFL for the 08 season. I wont speculate until I know for sure.

Both Grand finalists very quiet. Any news on them to date?

The Belmont lions I heard were looking at a couple of on-ballers for Winchelsea.
I did read in a previous commments that it was Harrison and Day.
These two players probably wouldn't be demanding that much money, so maybe Belmont could afford them. They would still be good pick ups, I was at the Winchelsea Vs Belmont game out at Winch earlier in the year and Harrison killed them out of the middle.
Also I heard that Belmont havent lost one player, so I would expect them to finish in the 5.

East Geelong all as I have heard is maybe a few more from Torquay are going to East but no one could confirm this.

Belmont in the paper today and reading between the lines they have got a couple of players swinging and therefore the post above may not be accurate. Also didn't seem to be many of them in the shot in the paper but it could hve just been the photo.

East are back in work and have been getting good numbers (30-40) with a couple of new heads but not confirming names.

Winch have spent not much at all in the last two years. spent in the low 40's last year and it would have been lower then that the year before. thats for coach and players. There would have only been about 5 players on 200 plus.

but yeah they have lost alot of players.

Winch are not dead yet. What would it take to succeed? Some of the players to get behind a new coach and stop bitching like a bunch of girls? Someone or other to stand up and be a leader rather than act like a bunch of sheep? The juniors are fantastic with some real standouts so this crap about the club being a total mess is just that - crap. I hope there is some pride in this team and they will come out fighting, stick about and stick it up the knockers, rather than slink off somewhere else then bitch moan and whinge there.

i think its a matter of winch/new coach looking after its players it has a bit better and then they wouldnt leave. rather then shafting a few that have been their for years....

Tim Gardiner would have to be the oldest player on Thommys list i think he has caught up to his famous no. with his age. Maheras would lucky to be 33. And there is no way Harriott is 30.

Gees tommys had a hard life if his not in his 30's yet.
Heard anakie had a bit of fun last saturday night, one of the rickett brothers had a party and there cousin scott verner who also plays for anakie got the shit kicked out of him by some anakie players, cause his been talking to corio not real smart knowing anakie commitee and coaching staff dont want to loose him cause the kid can play. The boys out at corio are happy about it i would think cause you recon after that he will definately go there now.

everything that winch stuffed up they all blamed pricey, pricey is a good coach and it was not his folt for winch finishing so low the last few years they all need to share the work load through the team instead of puttin it all the coaches shoulders, a coach can only do so much and when it comes down to game day its up to the players on the field and winch need to switch on and start using their heads a bit more

Totally agree. Pricey did as well as he could with what the players gave him. I always thought footy was team game. Late this year (last season) the Addy footy writer wrote he could have been coach of the year with a bit if luck. There are a lot of Winch knockers but there are also lots of supporters who want the team(s) and club to succeed. Time for the knockers to stand up and put up or shut up.

I agree.. you cant just blame the coach. Simple fact is they had players in their ones that wouldnt have got a game in the top 6 or 7 teams. No cattle whatsoever.. and they were still competitive in a lot of games.
This yr will be their test.

hahaha. pfft.. scott verner. wouldnt find a bigger w***er and pretend tough guy in this area.
What a surprise him getting bashed.

Juddster, I'm not sure if you have been partying with Cousins of late, but your judgement seems to be clouded.
Maheras would be 35 at least, along with Gardiner. Harriott is easily 31, not to mention Wallace being 31/32.

19th I agree on the age list Maheras is 34 and Gardner 35. For the others Harriot is 30+ and I undertand Wallace is early 30's. Given that though they can all play and it still represents a decent forward line if you add in McLeod.

Timmy Gardener would have to be every bit 35.

Spoke to a mate last night and he said he was offered dollars from Thomson. $100 a game and then $5000 if he comes in the top 10 in the B&F. He has played a couple of ones games in the GFL..... looks like the tommy boys have a bit of cash to spend.

:) It's 2008 and yes you do have to spend cash to get somewhere or otherwise becoming defunct is a real possibility...making sure your spending it on the right players is the key....not sure on the $5000 though but incentive scheme is a good idea..One thing at Thommy is once players are there they tend too stay. Not many clubs in the district over the past 25 years can boast a 12 year consecutive finals record (lowest finish in that time was last year - 5th).Very good core bunch at Thomson and a great bunch of fellas.
Believe training has been tough with good numbers and some very sore boys from a couple of the sessions.

vrey good point. i can't believe the amount of players that seem to travel back and forth between Nth Geelong, Corio and Anakie.

i think because they all sort of know each other around that area and once a core group of mates start playing together they tend to move together as well. if a couple leave for another club the rest normally follow. they are mostly young players so whoever offers the most money normally gets the player/s. its a shame really that players show little or no loyalty to a club but its just money and football to them. they dont really have any pride or respect for the jumper they wear but thats local footy these days.
