Except Menegola is a midfielder so comparisons to Miers (forward) and O’Connor (Defender) are irrelevant. As to Holmes I am taking him every day of the week, huge upside and at least he has some capacity to impact play defensively.

Menegola and holmes are 22 locks. Miers and oconnor are a real chance of missing finals if we have a fully fit list.

There was a lot to like about that win...and just as much to dislike.
Playing Henry forward was smart. An extra marking forward is necessary.
Hawkins is a one on one beast, but allows too many unopposed marks when caught behind.
Henry is fearless and will make a contest every time.
Henry deserved a free kick for clearly front on contact 15m out in Q1.
Better value starting forward, provides more than Dalhaus and versatility back if needed.
Kudos to Atkins, Zuthrie, SDK and Blitz, much improved players.
Very annoyed that many remain prone to panic when the pressure goes up.
Trying to play safe. Lack of awareness. Bad skills. Bad decisions.
MOC got exposed when on a marking player. needs work on this.
Holmes looked rusty, Menegola looked too slow at times... prefer Stephens.
Stewart's brain fade will be costly in starting the quick rebound.
Tuohy to backline. Danger and Rohan to return.... will help
Next 5 weeks Dees. Blues, Port, Dogs, will determine our premiership contention.
Bring it!!!

Even from a Geelong supporters standpoint, I feel the same way. We won over an hour ago and I still don’t feel an ounce of happiness over what was arguably Chris Scott’s best win as coach excluding the 2011 grand final.

We didn’t lose I know but the thing is I can handle losing. What pissed me off tonight was the fact that we play these ‘home’ games away to a genuine home team when we’d have belted them at home. Football is no good for my mental health at this point because we are so badly disadvantaged. The only team in world sport. This sport means a lot to me and my interest has never waned yet I’m finding myself wondering whether to walk away entirely.

I don’t know how much longer I can do this because it’s bringing me down (factoring in with more important real life issues) to the point where I want to ring Lifeline.
Give them a call if needed, we all have tough times and need some support. Lok after yourself

Everyone is welcome to there own opinion. I have been saying Menegola is shit for years so I doubt anything you say could change my mind. Being able to run all day is all well and good but when your sprint is everyone else’s jog you have no place in modern AFL.

He’ll get 4-6 no doubt at all. Ran past the footy and hit him with an elbow.
If Lynch had done that to say, Selwood, Cats fans would be demanding 5-6 minimum
Why do people make things up? Elbow??

Who played on Jack Riewoldt and kept him scoreless?
Kolo might have lined up on Riewoldt but most of the time he was nowhere near him. Kolo seemed to be running around doing his own thing, probably because the opposition wants the ball in his hands. His disposal efficiency was 40% today! 10 disposals, 5 turnovers, 3 goal assists for Richmond.

Pardo the intrusion, that was a season defining win if I've ever seen one. You really dug deep when it looked like they would run with it again in the last, I really think you guys take a lot of out of tonight.

Me too, it’s not rare for a side to give up a big lead but when scores level up, the chasing team runs out of gas. What is rare is giving up a big lead, conceding a margin, and lifting again. It showed real ticker, just as Richmond showed to lead at all.
We were lucky with Prestia going off and lynch messing up a few gilt edged opportunities but there was plenty for us to improve on as well and we still got a good win in a high intensity game against a good side on their home deck

Interesting that he’s started taping up his elbows isn’t it. Or has anatomy changed and the elbow is now above the shoulder

Reckon we need to be trialing Rohan down back alongside Henry, Stewart, DeKoning, Bews and Duncan. Zac Guthrie to also provide support. Kolo and O’Connor are far too nervy under pressure.

I know he’s very good one on one and negates almost every contest he attends but his mistakes are more costly than those of other players. It needs a serious rethink - yes we want the positives he brings but something has to happen to eradicate the negatives

Stewart absolutely deserves his impending suspension, make no question about that. However, it's frustrating to know that coverage of that story will almost certainly equal or possibly even dwarf the coverage of the game itself. This match was easily game of the year. That should be the focus. The whole reason we follow this sport is for games like today. Atmospheres as pulsating as today's only occur a few times a year, so you'd think that would merit more attention than anything else. Unfortunately though, you know it won't, since the media prefers negative stories and scandals to anything else. They'll put more energy in to discussing a negative story about a poor action by an individual - a story that's not actually that interesting really, since everyone already agrees the action was extremely poor and deserving of a decent-length ban, so the only debate is how long to ban him for - rather than devoting time to analysing literally the best game of the calendar year.

Bit of a tangent, but on a (just-barely) related note: I do think one of the biggest failures of sports media in general is that disproportionate attention is given to stories that aren't related to the playing of the sport itself. It's actually the biggest reason (among many other reasons) I'm against a mid-season trade period. If you put it in place you'd end up with an Australian version of the January transfer window in European soccer, wherein fans spend more time talking about transfers than they do talking about the actual games. Soccer websites have analytics that tell them that the stories that get the most clicks by far are the ones related to transfers. But having fan attention directed that way isn't a good thing and it's not what I want for our the AFL!!! As soon as the season starts, the media talking points should be overwhelmingly about the games themselves.

The act on replay isn’t a good one.
It’s not intentional, it’s very careless.
It’s also not Severe.

Terrible look but that’s the correct headings posted above IMO
Yep, shithouse act but only need to use the gradings to see it’s three weeks.

Richmond fans seem to be under the delusion that Umpires must award an equal amount of free kicks to each team by the conclusion of each game.

Geelong's tackling has been exemplary all year long; very rarely infringing with high or unduly rough tackles, nor in their opponent's backs. Richmond were sloppy in their tackling execution; often cynically so, and they paid a price.
I saw plenty of free kicks we weren't paid and at times I found it frustrating.

Kolo or O’Connor go out you reckon? Both struggled. Can see arguments for either.
O'Connor was poor today but he is much more versatile than Kolo and doesn't turn the ball over as much. O'Connor on Bolton didn't work out but our other backs are too slow to go with a player like Bolton. Rohan would be a better option.

Everyone is throwing around Tom's bump as intentional, but I disagree. He wasn't intentionally trying to hurt Prestia. Yes, he wanted to bump the guy, but the contact was careless, IMO. Whenever someone braces for contact, they automatically raise their elbows in that action. In football, it's this that makes these actions seem worse. People think this automatic body reaction is a deliberate attempt to elbow someone in the head. It's not. I'm not saying Tom shouldn't be suspended, he will be. There's no doubt about that. My call is Careless, High, High. Which is 3 weeks down to two with an early plea.

I just hope the MRO uses his common sense in this matter. But, we know Tom will probably get the Geelong penalty.

32-16 free kicks. Your a second rate club. Propes up on a s**t home ground and free kick count that west coast would be envious. I’m not salty as you’ll fold like a bunch of cheap campaigners come finals. Like always. You know it. I know it.

Then why the F are you posting here. :laughv1:

Stengle was absolutely sensational, rare to see a forward pocket impact a game like that. That was a Toby Green level performance. His impact was so much more than goals.

Also credit to Miers who really found something when he was at his lowest. Have to admire that. Happy to proven wrong on his selection.

Got away with one there, hopefully Holmes and Menegola will be better for run. Our midfield is running on fumes.

Guthrie was brilliant I thought. He is carrying them. And Atkins is a warrior.

Cameron’s move to midfield was the jolt to turn the game.
A very good summary, I agree with all you said especially the part about Guthrie. Our midfield would be lost without him. Not only does he extract the ball but he does a lot of tackling and often gets a hand in to disrupt the opposition.

Your tears are genuinely delicious, and they have brought me serious joy. Thank you, you illiterate mouth breathing numpty. 😂

Happy to get away with the win..

It's a all day thing going to the footy in Melbourne.

Listening to the Richmond fans yell "ball " I thought we were playing Carlton.
And their booing .

What's the go with MOC been pretty poor of late ..
Don't mind him tagging .
Moc not quick and ball use has dropped off.

Zach Guthrie gone past him.Imo.

Didn't like the cats surporter in front of us saving 6 seats for people ...who come to seat down 5 mins before the game ..
