I know several supporters who feel as strongly as you do about playing "home" games against teams like Richmond. We need to be 5 goals better to get a break given their feral Tiger roar at every opportunity.

I’ll help you get some perspective. Geelong gets 9 x genuine home games a season that involves significant home ground advantage …. at a ground you train at and teams rarely play at. And it’s dimensions are unlike any other ground so it’s foreign to every team who visits - it’s no coincidence you win 90+ % of games played there. MCG tenants get 4-5 genuine home games a season. A home game against Essendon, Carlton, Richmond, Melbourne, Hawthorn, Collingwood provide no home ground advantage. And a home game against Roos, Cats etc… it’s minimal as teams play at the MCG all the time.

And MCG teams don’t train on the ground.

I can understand the frustration of playing a home game against Richmond at the MCG. But do Essendon complain when they play Richmond in Dreamtime at the G as a home game? Or Anzac Day against the Pies at the MCG as a home game ?

Cats get 9 x games a season with a huge home ground advantage other Victorian based teams don’t get. Then you get 7-8 x games at a mixture of MCG and Marvel, which provide very minimal disadvantage. So please don’t think you’re hard done by overall during the H&A season as it’s just not true.

So you’re saying it’s as bad as the Gaff punch on a teenager? I disagree he will get time off but not that much throw in a guilty plea which should help and the max I can see is 3 weeks

I didn’t think gaff got enough.
I’m not sure why you’re comparing them though.

I don’t know the whole tribunal system anymore.
But it will go to the tribunal.
So that’s not 2 weeks. So pick a number.

A broken jaw would be six (I’d think). So I’ll go for 4.

It’s intentional, high, severe …. straight to the tribunal. You can’t actually get much worse than that act. Run past the ball and knock a defenceless player unconscious before he hits the ground. It was out of character for Stewart, but he’s getting more than 3 x weeks, as he should.

The act on replay isn’t a good one.
It’s not intentional, it’s very careless.
It’s also not Severe.

Terrible look but that’s the correct headings posted above IMO

Dangerously close to your natural habitat down in 9th position I wouldn’t get too confident
Really, that’s all you have to say? If you can’t see we are pretty damn close to you guys after letting slip a winning position tonight, I don’t know what to say.
I can honestly say I hope we meet again in September as I reckon with Cotchin, Prestia and Balta available, we might have a chance.
Anyway, your one eyed view is pretty obvious and that’s ok, I’m pretty confident in my mob, so I’m out of here. Sorry to have tried to provide an opinion

Yeah but the impact wasn’t severe that will lessen the weeks imo …I think 2-4 seems to be the ballpark and I still think a guilty plea will rub a week off if he’s lucky

But the outcries of 5-6 weeks which brings it into the ballpark of the Gaff and Hall incidents it’s a fair bit over the top for what seems to be a very late hit which intent will be hard to prove.

I get it, it's frustrating but if we looknat it holistically then maybe we can turn that frown upside down.

For one it's a game. Sure we barrack, cheer etc for our team and want success (because who doesn't love the summer premiership afterglow), but it's still a game and there needs to be equal amounts of hope and pragmatism to get through a whole season.

We don't win Grand Finals at Kardinia. We beat the "home team" on their "home ground". We beat them with a few down on the day too. We look like there's a chance the mustered cattle could do well finals wise.

It's a game. Games can be fun if you do not invest too much into it (albeit a loss on a Friday ruins the whole weekend dammit).

We are not someone like St Kilda who haven't won in half a century or more - we win, we have had recent success and it ebbs and flows.

I bought my first pair of geelong footy socks in 33 years this week. My other pair a still going (though all that time worn at least once a week, countless footy training sessions etc) ... They were/are my lucky socks. They've ridden the highs and lows with me.

Buy yourself a pair of socks.

Enjoy the game.

Have fun.
Agree. It's just a game.but I expend far too much emotional capital every time we face up.
But emotions get in the way. I am happy we won today, but worried about the finals......
Then again.
It's just a game. Enjoy it for what it is ..the best game on the planet, and not winning flags is not the end all. Winning a flag is cream.

No one cares , I don’t see any Geelong supporters rushing over to your board for an exchange

The fact you have so many over here abusing and whinging is amusing at best

How many home games do interstate teams get at their home grounds?
How do you justify GWS playing a home final at their place, against any team, while you would complain about Geelong playing a final at Geelong?
We have never had 9 games at Geelong either- that would be a first this year.
Bringing up Melbourne based teams like Essendon playing games at the G is irrelevant- they would prefer the G to be their home ground anyway.
Geelong has a home ground, and there is no reason we should not be able to play EVERY home game at Geelong, not 6 or 7 or 8 or 9.

I don't know who the Cats will meet during September but I do know it will not be the Tigers lmao

We won. You lost. Die mad about it.

Yep, we're fairly evenly matched, and with the return of players to both sides, and some juggling, it'll be another good game should we meet again in finals.

Too long didn't read.

Stengle was absolutely sensational, rare to see a forward pocket impact a game like that. That was a Toby Green level performance. His impact was so much more than goals.

Also credit to Miers who really found something when he was at his lowest. Have to admire that. Happy to proven wrong on his selection.

Got away with one there, hopefully Holmes and Menegola will be better for run. Our midfield is running on fumes.

Guthrie was brilliant I thought. He is carrying them. And Atkins is a warrior.

Cameron’s move to midfield was the jolt to turn the game.

You’re right, it is no coincidence. We are a damn consistent and good side more often than not. If an interstate side was good enough to be 7-3 on the road (which we are) then they will generally win 90 per cent of their games at home as well

But do Essendon complain when they play Richmond in Dreamtime at the G as a home game? Or Anzac Day against the Pies at the MCG as a home game ?
Essendon chose to play home games at the MCG. That's the key differentiator here. The cats don't choose to play MCG home games at all, just like the Tigers don't choose to play home games at Marvel. It's a shit deal all round. If North/Dees/Hawks were made to play 11 games in Melbourne, then we could all play 11 home games where we want.
