Review Geelong + Chris Scott make another Prelim at Ports expense

On a lighter note , i enjoyed Jeremys interaction close up and personal with that Port supporter bloke over the fence , after Jeremy had kicked another one of his ripper goals

Id rate it 2nd in the all time great list of mesmerizing opposition supporters

Micky O of the Swans still holds the number one spot and clear clubhouse leader , re when he mesmerized that plump Eagles cheer squad member behind the goals at Subiaco one day

watch at 4:20, but the whole lot is good, he was some player!

What's the likelihood of guest passes for AFL Bronze members for the prelim, based off previous years where a Victorian team plays an interstate one as will be the case with Geelong this year?
Use your bronze barcode to buy in the club member window and sit in the outer. Might be cheaper than the high prices they charge bronze/silver members for prelim week.

LEGEND GROWS

1. PATRICK DANGERFIELD

Itā€™s boring but itā€™s true, finals are strongly influenced by contest and pressure. The Geelong-Port Adelaide match was done at halftime, and in the first two quarters, it was Max Holmes and Dangerfield who blunted the opposition. At the main break, Dangerfield had nine contested possessions which was No. 1 on the ground. Heā€™s a big-time player who, when someone says fight, throws the first punch. Geelong people might know best, but hereā€™s a stab at Geelongā€™s top 10 this century.

ROBBO'S TOP 10 CATS SINCE 2000

Mark Robinson's stab at the 10 best Geelong players this century.
  1. Ablett
  2. Scarlett
  3. Dangerfield
  4. Selwood
  5. Bartel
  6. Hawkins
  7. Stewart
  8. Enright
  9. Johnson
  10. Cameron

THE COOLER

1. MARK BLICAVS ON CHARLIE DIXON

Blicavs is the next best ā€˜utilityā€™ player since Carlton great Anthony Koutoufides, and when Blicavs eventually retires, it will be fun to determine where exactly he played his best footy. As a winger, a second ruck, as a midfielder, as a midfielder stopper, or as a defender? You suspect it will be around the ball, as it was with Kouta. But on Friday, he was a key defender. It was the perfect match-up. He had 15 disposals, seven marks and four score involvements opposed to Dixonā€™s three, one and two. Dixon could not get detachment which made him redundant in attack and he was too slow in the ruck.Dixon is white-knuckling his spot in the team. His replacement possibly is Todd Marshall, but it must be noted Marshallā€™s kicked only 20 goals in 18 games this year, so unless heā€™s found more talent, confidence and authority while heā€™s being injured, youā€™d probably have to go with Dixon again. Thereā€™s the dilemma. Old, slow Dixon v underwhelming Marshall.

HEREā€™S LOOKING AT YA KID

2. SHANNON NEALE

Nine touches, nine marks and 2.2 in his first final means that Tom Hawkins wonā€™t get a gig in the preliminary final. Hawkins kicked 1.3 from 10 disposals in the VFL and the further issue for Hawkins is the VFL team was beaten so he canā€™t get another game of footy. Neale has played nine of the last 10 games and kicked a goal in every game. Heā€™s a roaming tall, too, which allows Jezza to work closer to goal. No, he stays in.

REPUTATION ENHANCED

1. MAX HOLMES

Heā€™s an elite player who had the added responsibility of playing more midfield time when Tom Stewart was out. When the game was to be won in the first half, he had 16 disposals and 485m gained. Please, no more describing Holmes as a ā€˜tremendous runnerā€™, heā€™s much better than that. He should be the B&F winner.

Swannies 3.30, Catters 4.30 today.

We are too old to be favourites. Did I get that right? ;)
As an outsider looking in, I'd say the bookies think either the Giants or Lions would be a lot stiffer opposition in a Preliminary Final than what Port Adelaide put up in finals.

Non All Australians from the squad of 44, Holmes and Stengle, getting 12 coaches votes in an away preliminary final.

Moore, Blakey, Butters, Bontempelli, Treloar, Gulden, Warner not on the scoreboard.

Dixon blatantly tried to trip Blitz over the boundary then shoved him towards the fence. And then tried to take his head off in the last. Frustrated windbag

When Paddy plays like he did against port, explosive and daring yet playing within himself and not trying to be superman (altho he did do that in 1 passage early...) he's a brilliant player who turns us from a possible contender to just about favourite for the flag.
He was amazing in the 2022 finals series and looks set to recapture that form.

I'm not getting carried away. With how flakey we have been this year, we could easily put in a stinker in the Prelim.. Particularly if we play rhe Giants.
We will be fine in the prelim and I donā€™t mind gws at the G- we will play them better there than we do at K.Park. We have given ourselves a good chance-so letā€™s make the most of it. Comon cats.
