If it's a Geelong-GWS grand final, will the AFL allocate us more seats? Surely that would be the only way Priority 3 members could get seats in the ballot.
nah simply every staff member at the AFL will be given a seat and an orange scarf for the day

Or umpires?

Hi guys, some info which may please some of the Cats fans on lower priority for the ballot.

In 2012, the Swans failed to fill their whole quota and I know for sure that Hawks fans were allocated what the Swans couldn't fill.

I registered today in the GWS ballot, priority 2. I registered at around 12:30, so towards the end of the rego window. I registered 4 tickets and my numbers in the ballot were 969-972.

This would suggest little more than 1000 registrations by the close at 1pm. Even if it was only Priority 2 in that figure, there would be no more than 1000 Category 1 and much less Cat 3 I would think. So I reckon it would absolutely max out at 4K which leaves a hell of a lot of competing club tix going back into the pool.

Now as a Swans fan I'm hoping you don't get the chance :p, but if you make it through and are a bit unsure on who you'd like to see win the other prelim, it may pay to be cheering for the Giants if you have a lower priority in the ballot.

Good luck all the same....

Thanks, that might explain why we suddenly have a 3rd priority.

My preference in the MCC given how hard it is to get N and P.

I love N47-48, right in front of the coaches boxes (and getting the tickets for the balcony seats on level 2/3 make for sweet souvenirs for the finals in a premiership year), but if you can't be bothered getting there when gate 2 opens, or you've got guests coming with you for a game where there's no allocated long room/balcony passe the extra $10 hit for a reserved seat is well worth it. You're either on level 1 behind the benches, or level 4 in front of the stairs. Certainly beats going GA, tying a scarf around a chair and hoping for the best that it's still there when you return for the bounce. There isn't a bad reserved seat in the MCC: that's why they're snapped up so quickly for blockbuster games.

Of course, you can always try your luck registering for the Dining Room, if you want to get allocated seats on level 2 for visitors (you can apply for as many visitors as you can get visitors tickets for) in games where there are no Long room or balcony passes allocated. Same deal as the Long Room, with regards to the viewing, dress code, bar and menu (it's next door to the Long Room and one level below the Frank Grey Smith Bar), but few people seem to know about it. And if your registration is successful, you're allocated seats in N37-39. I'm doing the dining room on Friday night.

Can't wait to get my membership in a couple years. Even if it costs a fair bit and it's only a restricted membership to start with, it'll be so worth it.
SOOOOOOO thankful my parents put me on the waiting list at birth!

Ain't that the truth, I'm just going to rock up this weekend for the Dogs hawks game for a bit of fun.

Hey all, go cats.

Flying in from Adelaide for the prelim, so... before the cost of ticket to the prelim.... costs of flights/accom means I am up for $450+
Then if we make the GF, another lot of flights+accom will need to booked at last min plus GF ticket (Priority member)

Wish I could just pay the $399 cat 1 price for a ticket for the GF and be done with it :D :D

Jealous of you Vic based members!

anyone know if kids memberships can be used in the ballot then if successful get an adult into the grand final.
Officially, no.

In a big crowd with an inattentive MCG gate attendant? Has been known to happen.

Just a note to anyone registering in the ballot. I just registered in the Priority One group, and in my confirmation email, ticketek says:

"Priority 1 Members Please Note:
At the time of registration, members can elect not to receive Standing Room ticket(s), however we strongly recommend all members select Option 1 – ‘I will accept the best available ticket – including Standing Room’ at the time of registering to retain guaranteed (P1) access to a Grand Final ticket."

Of course it's too late to be told that info AFTER you've already registered, and of course I chose option two, excluding standing room, because I don't want to stand throughout the match. So if this somehow means that by choosing the excluding standing room option I've lost guaranteed access to a grand final ticket I will be furious :mad:.

I'll be contacting the club now to see why there's some question of whether I'm retaining guaranteed access to GF tickets. But for anyone else who hasn't registered yet, a heads up that you should choose the first option, accept all tickets including standing room.

Category 1 registration done!
I wish I could limit what Category tickets are available to me
As a Category 1 member I assume our allocation will be done first
This means a higher chance of getting better seats but I'm more than happy with category 7

I upgraded simply so I am guaranteed a seat, but I might be up for $399ea which is pushing it
I think if I get higher Category seats, I will be willing to trade them with someone with lower category seats + difference in face value

I can only assume that our allocation will be done first and all seats wont be exhausted until during the ballot
They can get stuffed if I'm paying them $190 extra and miss out because I dont wont to stand

They say that each year. I can't say whether anyone has been disadvantaged by by excluding standing room, while also being Priority 1.

The one I can't remember is whether you MUST use a different credit card if you're registering barcodes in both the Priority 1 and Priority 2 ballot. Years ago, it said this somewhere in the fine print, but have yet to find it this time.

[EDIT: just found this]
"Members wishing to sit together must register their group in one transaction
using one credit card (Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, Diners). There is a maximum
of eight (8) tickets per transaction and members should be aware that group
registrations with more than one ticket are ‘one in all in’ or ‘one out all out’;
group registrations will not be split"

Essentially, me and my folks have Premiership member status, while my brother doesn't (his schedule doesn't allow him to commit to all games, even the GF), but as a full member he has the right to enter, just not with us.

I think the safer option is I use a different Credit Card for registering just my brother's member barcode in the Priority 2 timeslot.

To be fair that information was outlined in the details during ticketek process, which they ask you to read before proceeding and payment. And IIRC in the email sent by GFC last week.
