Absolutely ridiculous. Talk about setting your own set of rules and only applying them when it suits you. If he was reported, he should face the tribunal and cop his sentence; regardless of who it is and regardless of the league. If the player reported was not selected for interleague, I bet the tribunal would have gone ahead. Could you see the AFL doing this? Wouldn't have thought so.
Didn't something happen like that with Craig Bradley a few years ago?

So how do you think the Tigers went Saturday Tim?

It was interesting because alot of other supporters thought we had a red hot crack but still lost by 70 even tho they had 5 super players out.

My opinion is we did have a crack but it shows how crap we are and how good South Barwon are because we seemed happy to "only" lose by 70 points. Grovedale just dont have any good players and if we are happy losing to South Barwon by 70 points with 4 or 5 of there better players out then where is the Grovedale FC going?

Had a pretty good crack in the 1st and 3rd quarters but were blown away in the 2nd. Not sure who was happy with the result as everyone i spoke to wasnt to happy?

Anyone heading to the inter league game this wknd? Beautiful ground the Eastern oval and should be a decent game although id imagine the GFL will be far to strong.

I have no problem with a guy reported in a GDFL match playing for the GDFL intra-league side.

It's not like if he's suspended that intra-league game will count as part of his sentence.

That game has nothing to do with the actual GDFL season.

Prett poor performance from the GFL yesterday at the Eastern oval.. Got jumped by the BFL and trailed 7.3.45 to 1.4.10 at 1/4 time kicking against a strong breeze. Fought back well in the 2nd and 3rd terms but a goal by Ballarat on the 3/4 time siren pushed the margain out to 15 points.

Thought GFL would've run over the top of BFL in the last as we had use of the strong breeze, but the boys couldn't capitilise on it kicking 1.8 to 2 straight goals to end up losing 13.12.90 to 10.18.78.

Does anyone know if Ben Lavars was selected in the squad or was he unavaliable?? Couldn't believe he wasnt in the side yesterday.

Did Lara coach break his arm in interleague game, are there any other injuries, can Lara keep going without Harris or could this be the start of a slide

He did suffer a broken arm. I think Lara will keep going but if you take the best player out of any side it will have an impact.

Totally agree. How would it be fair if two players got reported on the same day but one could play the next round of footy (cos he missed the inter-league game) and the other couldnt.

I'd be surprised anyway if that was the reason it was postponed.. If he got weeks he'd still be eligible to play inter-league anyway.. For the record it was thrown out tonight, no surprises there if you'd seen it.

Relax longbomber, O'toole will come back to you one day

Just on the suspension/intra league discusison. In 2008 Luke Buckland from South Barwon was selected in the Victorian Team after playing for the GFL, however he was unable to take his place in the team due to his suspension. If this guy from the GDFL was allowed to play why wasn't Buckland

It is becoming increasingly apparent that a points system will come into effect in the GFL in the near future - the league and clubs are looking at models currently in effect in Central Murray, Sunraysia, Mornington Peninsula, Yarra Valley and Gippsland Leagues.

I like how its done in the West Gippy league where the points are based on the population of a town eg- Sale, 20,000 =31 points Leongatha 5,000 =37 points.. But I dont like it in Geelong. Why should some clubs be capped just because they're better run and able to attract better players than other clubs?

I don't think there will ever be a perfect system. Unfortunately the spending by some clubs, perhaps combined with the fact that they are better run, has created a huge divide between the haves and the have nots. Maybe these elite clubs will need to reign in their approach for the sake of the competition.

A few upsets today;
Grovedale beating St Joesph's and St Albans beating Colac out there.

I think something might have to give at St Joey's, you can't be paying out and having the players they do and perform the way they are.

And Colac look to be gone, great win by St Albans they might trouble a few sides on the back end of the season.

Totally agree with you randy guy St Joeys are in big trouble. Cannot beleive what I saw after the game one of there high profile recruits did not even bother to shake one Grovy oppenents hand after the game and ran straight off the ground as soon as the siren sounded. He ran past about 4 tiger players in order to get off the ground and did not even blink an eyelid at any of them. Yes I know that maybe some players have to get to work straight after the game but shit it was not a very good look from someone who I reckon wouldn't be playing for peanuts. Comments like TAKE YOUR MONEY AND RUN seemed very appropiate from the very storng Grovy supporters.

Yeah agree also with RandyGuy and Hosco re Joey's in strife. I can offer probabable reasons for bad sportsmanship from one of their purchased players you witnessed:
1. Shitty cos they lost and ran off to cry in the club rooms.
2. Had another engagement (no excuse not to shake hands on ya way past though)
3. The arrogance and culture at Joeys is rubbing off on him and he's turned into a tool
I still think Joeys will come good when it counts and make the finals (although i'd love Leopold or someone to steal their spot) but the way Joey's are travelling at the moment both on and off the ground, just goes to show that all the money in the world can't buy class.

Is there a better feeling in Geelong than beating Joeys at there shit hole:D Seriously there ground is a dump probably the worst overall complex in local footy..

Street was the big sook who took off without shaking hands, it wasnt a good look. Joeys have obviously spent plenty of cash but they dont look like a very good side at all. Grovey kept pressuring them all day and even tho we were 22 points down at 3/4 time there was always a feeling that Joeys may crack and thats how it happened with the tiges booting 5.3 to 2 points in the final quarter.

Joeys will probably sneak into the 5 at the expense of Lara in my opinion but they no way near the standard of Sth,Bell Park or St Marys.

Nope, can't think of a better feeling! Part of the deal to secure him was to find him a career. Apparently he's such a dud at everything Joeys lay out on a plate for him that they're now trying to get him into the police force and see if that will suit him. Quite a few boys in blue at Joeys.

You blokes (probably kids) are unreal. The bloke your all bagging did have 'another engagement' which is called work! And in local footy work comes first, any coach will tell you that.

He did well to get the whole game in and he was even a few mins late to work so he could finish the game. And unlike you kids he doesn't work at KFC or Video Ezy so its pretty important to get to work on time!

I dislike St'joeys as much as the next person and i tell them that when i play against them but bagging the club or individual players on here hiding behind a Username on an anonymous forum is as gutless as it gets. Weak as piss!!
Talk footy rumours and discussion not attack people's character you peanut!

now toffee, if you are so against bagging people hiding behind a username, you might need to re-read your last comment, does exactly as you said you cant stand

If Peter Street behaves like an arrogant snot then he can be judged as one. Honestly how long does it take to shake an opponents hand when you're running past them? From my experience the kids who work at KFC & Video Ezy could teach him a thing or to about manners. I do tell St Joesphs face to face about their short comings where appropriate so not hiding anywhere. My profession and sporting ties are such that the bit of anonymity i get on here is all I get. And ...yeah I do enjoy bagging the odd idiot and/or club who pops their head up now and then.
I also heard that Football Geelong are having a good look at the points system and how it's run in a few Victorian leagues and are sending out a working party to delve and further assess its viability for Geelong. And what's the go with the Addy today? You'd hardly even know Grovedale won. It's probably going to be their stellar game and achievement for the season and you'd think a bit of praise and coverage might have been in order. A pissy little blurb under the score was the only mention.

My answer would be because they have 2 set matches that the addy coverage goes to and no other games are being watched by anyone really, or they get some little pissant there but because the 2 games take up the photos and the whole page, Grovedale's win couldn't fit

When at their peak, who would win a match between South Barwon V Old Xaverians. Make for a ripping game. Best side in the Country V Best side in the City.
