Geelong - have to trade.

we wont trade mumford, if a club comes knocking on the door and want a ruckmen, we will give Blake as he will provide a little breathing space in the salary cap

Agreed...if salary cap is the reason for trading, then if any of the ruckmen go, it's more likely to be Blake.

The only other option may be if West requests a trade to seek more opportunities (grr Dawson Simpson).

Mumford is staying.

Sorry to tell you this but Blake is rubbish. Nobody will touch him with a 20 foot pole let alone a 10 foot one.

While I agree that Blake isn't the best ruckman going around, if you're saying that means he won't attract anything as a trade, I disagree. The ruck is the one position where you'll draft position specific (i.e. you'll draft a ruckman even if he isn't great simply for the sake of having a ruckman) because it requires a certain size and shape and you need injury cover etc. If you don't believe that look at a certain Essendon in a certain elimination final this year. Secondly, the draft access is closing for a lot of clubs, and anyway ruckmen are the hardest to draft as they take longer to develop, which is why a lot of clubs prefer to trade in more experienced ruckmen where they can.

All that being so, I am sure someone would be interested in Blake if he was put on the table.

Blake is shit, however hes a better ruckman than the majority of clubs #2 ruckmen, and actually better than a few #1 ruckmen. He's not GREAT but had he been on Essendon's list I can guarantee he would have played in that Adelaide final. He wouldn't have won it for them, but they wouldn't have gotten absolutely smashed in the ruck. Just an example.
