Geelong rorting the system

Bit strange for the AFL to tick it off before Scott accepting the role and then turning around for an investigation

Meh I’m sure it’ll just be signed off again
AFL: "We are fine with this"
Scott: "I am fine with this"
Geelong: "We are fine with this"

17 inferior clubs: "Uh, we are NOT fine with this!!!"

How about Hocking developing new rules and only testing them at the cats... then joining them after the rules that benefit them dismantling the Richmond game plan and then hands them the flag

yeah and we are shocked that they hand out "life style payments"

come on guys the AFL boys club will sweep this one under the rug as fast as Stengle throws back tequila shots

AFL response to 17 pleb clubs "yeah we'll investigate it guys".

Gotta love when a plan comes together so perfectly.

We went from runners up to beaten by 14 goals in a preliminary final after that rule change.

Not Geelong's fault Richmond's game plan was so unwatchable the AFL needed to change the rules to improve the optics of the sport for broadcasters. Auskick for adults game plan.

My guess is that following this announcement multiple clubs have reached out to the AFL to say they have sponsors who are willing to offer the same arrangements - effectively just a bogus role to rort. Has probably spooked the AFL a bit.
If the AFL let this slide than other clubs should definitely do it with their coaches with club sponsors.

Since when was living in Geelong desirable? The place (a) stinks like oil & gas, (b) is full of packet homes that will rot faster than a bag of prawn heads in a Delhi gutter, (c) is full of shuttered factories from the glory days of government grants to beg business to move/stay there (d) introduced rabbits to Australia, (e) introduced foxes to kill the rabbits (can't make this stuff up...), (f) birthed Darryn Lyons, (g) has North Corio in it, (h) is a poor man's Wollongong, which is truly worrisome and (i) not even sharks want to swim in its beaches.

It's an absolute swamp. Torquay and Ocean Grove are alright but Mornington is far nicer and has way hotter birds. How they ever convinced anyone to move there for the 'lifestyle' is truly remarkable.

I want to know how brisbane is paying

Neale
Dunkley
McLuggage
Andrews
Rayner
Bailey
Berry
Daniher (who is still owed money)
Charlie Cameron
Dayne Zorko
Hipwood

And that's before i even include adding
Big O
Starcevich
Doedee
Ashcroft x 1 and soon to be 2
Fletcher
Lohmann

If they manage to maintain everyone i'd be putting real close eyes on how that is fitting everyone into the cap.

About half of those guys have signed monster deals and yet somehow no one is leaving?
How is that possible? A Rolls Royce midfield, stars in the forward line, AA backmen and no one seems to be leaving?
Curious, very curious.

Seems abundant how many players are driving brand new Hyundais too, i hope that's all covered in the cap?
I'm personally giving each player $500k.

As opposed to Footscray the cultural Mecca of Australia

Pro tip the players live around the surf coast rather than the city or even further out

I'm sure like most things that makes the AFL look sussy and stupid they'll just tick it off and tell everyone to move on. It's fascinating how this type of stuff only happens at Geelong and no other club. But apparently every club can do this.
Pretty sure hungry Jack franchises were given to your previous coaches as well as cheap land to players durring the mining boom

It was an open secret

Just say it is 100% legit.
How does a full time AFL Head Coach have time for a second, well paying (from all reports) position?
Would his primary employer be comfortable allowing him to invest any notable man hours in a secondary role..away from clubland?
Or would it be more akin to when players/staff do hospital visits/
charity work but instead of putting on a apron at the soup kitchen, Christopher will don a suit and head out to assist the needy folk of Morris Finance.

Well he did give up his entire salary and worked for free during COVID so that the club could keep staff members …. I think the club would be comfortable with him taking on a second job :)

You want inequality, 18 team competition made up of the teams you have mentioned.

The finals is nearly always made up of 1/2 WA and SA sides, any combination of 2/4 Qld/NSW side, Geelong nearly always make it through home games and adding top level players.

that leaves the final 3 spots in the finals to be filled out by 3 of the 9 Melbourne clubs

Let that sink in

Really?

From 1995 to 2010. The AFL had 16 sides and 8 finals spots.

The average side in that period or to be on par or be in the middle, you have to win a flag in 16 years from 2 grand finals You also have to make finals 8 times out of 16.

If you do more than that, you are overachieving. You do less than that, you are under Achieving.

You wanna know how "Successful" the dockers were from 1995 to 2010?

Made finals 3 times in 16 years: 2003, 2006 and 2010.

Easy to say the dockers underachieved in that period.

Not to mention the dockers have made finals only 8 times out of 30 from 1995 to 2024.

You complain about 3 finals spots filled out by 3 of the 9 Victorian clubs....

Yet dont complain from 2007 onwards, only 2012, 2018 and 2024 are the only 3 years the non vic sides walked out of the MCG with the prize. The rest of the years the Victorians have won.

Let that sink in.

I had to read your post at least twice to let this all sink in....

So Geelong people introduced rabbits? Then introduced foxes to kill the rabbits?

Geelong is a Poor mans Wollongong? lol

So Geelongs beaches are that bad that not even Sharks do not want to swim there?
