Geelong rorting the system

Yep that’s relevant- couldn’t find one single Geelong player to do it hey? That’s a great argument you put forward. So your thought on the post about De Koning and mission if that was the case?
Instead of fussing about Geelong, how about we put the blow torch on Brisbane? Reigning premiers manage to snare the No.1 player in the competition, Levi Ashcroft. And that's not a rort?

ahhhh hmmmm, yeah no, that’s the problem with Geelong supporters, a lot like their coach- WARPED view of how good/important they are.
You're not the first and you won't be the last to be WARPED by Geelong. Rorting and WARPING as we see fit!

But if you recall the AFL changed the rule after Hawkins so that it couldn’t happen. You must feel stupid?

Geelong players after the prelim?
Well done. You finally broke through.
The same gif could be after the '22 prelim.

Trying to flex against a club that also has recent success is an odd choice.

And still not winning shit- yep you guys are amazing. 😂😂😂😂😂
If Geelong isn't the most winningest team this century then we must be mighty close to it. Winning and WARPING and rorting - we do it better than anyone.

What’s yours? Player buys house.

No no that’s exceptional.
You managed to do it again- but this time 2 sentences, just because you have to dumb down the discussion so you can understand it doesn’t mean you need to condense everything for everyone else. Pretty healthy discussion and Phatboy hears ‘player buys house’, it’s ok mate can’t be easy.

So you refer to everyone as ‘pathetic losers’ and then get ya back up when someone has a crack back- odd choice. I posed a scenario with De Koning as I would have been interested to see if Geelong supporters would have been OK with it and you get one line snide comments because you can’t make a reasonable argument. Geelong have had a great run but so have a few teams - anyway enough time with this shit, winners are grinders.

Those who believe we're rorting the system are as pathetic as those who believed we drugged our way to success. If that isn't you then no need to be offended

My comment really shouldn't have elicited a flag flex response tbh.

The situation you posed would be strange given that Smith was signed by Cotton On as an ambassador (early 2022) before he signed his last contract with the Dogs (August 2022)

So your scenario with De Koning - you’re suggesting he gets a big contract with Mission, then recommits to the Cats.

Then goes to the dogs one day.

Yeah ok- Mission signs De Koning now as an ambassador, pays him a shit tonne of money, even though he plays for another club, he signs another contract with Geelong end of this year and then goes to the bulldogs year after- I’m sure Geelong supporters would not be kicking up stink………

It was actually two years.

Why would someone sign a deal, then sign for two more years with a club, to do something dodgy.

Why not just go.

At any rate, if he wanted to leave that badly, he’s welcome to go.

You won’t find me among those who have ever kicked up a stink about anyone leaving Geelong: and hey, the league itself paid for the Suns to take the best player of the century off our hands. I didn’t blame him for going and I don’t blame them for trying to pump up the tyres of their new franchise.

95% of us would cop it on the chin like we did playing no finals at our home ground, losing Ablett for a pack of chips and Tim Kelly after a top 5 Brownlow season (yes we got good picks but were contending the next season remember).

If Sam was unhappy and saw more opportunities elsewhere, then good luck to him. It'd suck but that's life. Geelong supporters are the least feral in the comp concerning players that leave for other clubs.

Preach.

The club would continue to go on without players who want out.
No point getting wound up over it. We'll play guys who want to be here.

Yeah fair enough, to me it’s like Hungry Jacks now start paying Starcevic a heap of money while playing for Brisbane and he turns around next year and leaves and goes to West Xoast-yep good luck to him but I can’t see how it cannot be looked at considering all the apparent rules around the salary cap. Smith to Geelong does not effect my club at all, whatever, i just can’t buy the cotton on thing is a complete coincidence - c’mon.

At the end of the day Geelong still traded for Smith. This isn't like an unrestricted free agent coming over on a contract half his value because of his other incomings. Smith was unhappy at Footscray as quite a few have been.

Where it gets tiresome (or amusing, depends which way you look at it) are the persistent accusations that Geelong of recent years attracts many players - and all for "unders" - due to $1 pubs and $5 farm deals. It just turns into the same "unfair home ground advantage" and "Geelong players unfairly get more AA selection" whinges.

At least there's a singular thread for it so that everyone get let all that irrational rage out now. It used to be spread across about 5 active threads on the main board.

Again, if he’s working for them, and then still signs ANOTHER contract with the dogs, what about that doesn’t seem legit?

Geelong gets to the point where it needs a young midfielder and at the end of 2023 it starts to sound him out as to whether he would be keen and the mail is that he would be, and there are connections built via the fact that he has a sponsorship with a major company that has ties to Geelong and understandably the cats try to use that to their advantage. I think we would be stupid not to. And we eventually sign him.

Speaking of which

How are you affording your list?

Apparently about 7 guys have signed mega deals and about 5 of them are already getting paid over a million dollars a year.
That isn’t sus to anyone that a superstar filled team can just seemingly lose no one and continue to throw huge contracts at everyone?
