358 days since our last clash with the Tigers and here we are again, facing off against them in September

With Tuohy named, will he get to run out for game 200 tonight & be only the second Irishman to achieve said milestone - a fitting figure to be on today's game day image

Not sure why so many underrate Duncan? He is our Silk Burgoyne. He has had a better year in most respects to Kelly, with more score involvements and goals despite playing a hbf sweeper role and less time in the centre than Kelly. Also amazingly consistent, whereas Kelly took the first third of the season to get going.

No stress though, it's pretty subjective, and nice to have the discussion.

And look at that, The Age ran an article on the underrated Duncan earlier this week...

A Mitch Duncan kick inside 50 is more often than not a thing of beauty.

It would make sense for Duncan to be underrated if he wasn't such a fine kick.

A plucky back pocket can be underrated. An inside mid, who tackles and handballs as much as they kick, can be underrated. A forward who leads to create space for a teammate is often underrated.

But why is Duncan underrated?

It's probable Geelong like it that way. Duncan himself certainly does.

"It's definitely not something that bugs me," Duncan said. "I have played with a lot of great players that have taken the spotlight, and rightly so.

In the past five seasons Geelong have retained possession from 57.9 per cent of Duncan's 297 inside 50s kicks.

That's more than anyone in the competition, Lance Franklin, Scott Pendlebury, Gary Ablett, Daniel Rich, Patrick Dangerfield and Brad Hill included.

In the same period, the Cats have scored from 43.9 per cent of Duncan's 297 inside 50 kicks. Only Franklin (46.7 per cent) is better.

Having a couple of days off has meant I have spent too much time here making comments, so I'll summarise where I am at:
- Tiges will flood our forwardline and make it a stodgy game.
- Cats will win by two goals or less with Richmond not kicking over 50.
- Balta is not the Messiah.
- Dimma to complain about us leaving our back six beyond the fifty arc.
- Sav in, Jenkins out is bad, good and inconsequential.
- Tim Kelly is a gun and we don't miss him.

I think that is about it :moustache:

Getting that nervous, excited feeling. This is as close to a final as you can get. Both sides will be giving it their all to secure top 4. I know we have a perceived “easy” game next week, but you can be sure Scotty and the boys will be looking to lock in top 4 tonight, and in the process likely deny Richmond the same spot.

Im not subscribing to either team keeping cards up their sleeve until finals. Both teams know how each other plays, two very different styles and systems.

This game will be a great preparation for what lies ahead in 3-weeks time. I’m sure we will embrace that.

I predict a fair game where both teams have fun and Harry Taylor fashions a radio out of a coconut

EDIT - Bonus lyrics:

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
A tale of a fateful trip
That started at this tropic port
On the road to the premiership.

The coach had a mighty football plan,
The skipper brave and sure.
No passengers set sail that day
For a three hour tour, a three hour tour.

The tackles started getting rough,
The Richmond flogs were tossed,
With no courage from the Tiger's crew
The Minnow team had lost, the Minnow team had lost.

The ball was marked on the shore of this uncharted desert isle
With Hawkinnnnnnns
The Skipper too,
Mene-gol-a and Gryan M-i-i-iers
A gin-ger star,
And the rest
Are here on Hawkin's Isleeeeeeee!

Rohan late out Jenkins in.

I'm on the Rohan will be a late out bandwagon, as just don't want to risk him for finals as he's shown his value when fit & firing.

Most of the week I've thought Jenkins would be the easy replacement, but wonder if we'll go with a late season debut & Jarvis could play? This is what they said about Jarvis in the scratch match write-up:

Ben Jarvis showed the form that has frequently put him in contention to make his Cats debut, pushing high up the ground from the forward 50 and taking plenty of strong marks around the ground.

“He plays like Esava Ratugolea really, he takes some good grabs and plays really tall,” Narkle says.

“He’s a really skilful player as well and he can go back and finish really well.”

He's 189cm, so same height as Rohan - so we wouldn't be bringing in a small forward if he played

Curious to see what happens come final teams tonight

Tough game to debut in. Would rather they do that with Sydney. Bring Narkle back in if you need to rest Rohan and shuffle the midfield deckchairs a bit, for mine.

Will Richmond try and rough up Miers again and some of our players that don't like that stuff
Doubt it. It’s not a final, and unless Tigers are focused on football can’t see them having a chance.

The Blicavs conundrum:

"Unfortunately for Scott and Geelong, there is only one Mark Blicavs – not three."

It's not a bad piece. It does highlight that you don't always play a player in their best position, if the sum of the total benefit is greater. With Hendo doing a good job down back, Scott might think the team is better than if he moved Blicavs into FB and Hendo out of the side.

I say might, because I think he is placing a high value on his marking ability on transition while we haven't been running a CHF. That is, I don't think Blicavs is on the wing because Hendo is in the side, I think it is because Sav is out of it.

Hmmm. No mention of chair throwing skills.
