Could be a respect thing. Would be a bit harsh to name a kid on the field then he’s gotta tell his friends and family that it’s actually a grand master plan by the coaches to trick everyone and he’s actually the sub
Sure if it was a kid debuting... But naming Touhy, Parf, Bowes, MOC on the ground and making them sub surely wouldn't hurt their feelings too much.

My guesses by the way would be defending the form lines of kid Bruhn and vet Duncan from a few who lay the boot in just a little too much. But I didn't think I was at Bomber level (regarding Ottens) of "For some reason you people want to assassinate him and it's just rubbish. Leave him alone! All of you!".
Ahhh so good. Correct on both subjects. Full props given for self-awareness there.

What role is rohan playing that our forward line doesnt already have covered? On any measure how is that logical?
Combined speed, pressure and aerial ability.

Above all that they MUST start hot and not give the Tuggers a sniff at all.
Our three most recent losses have featured some very embarrassing runs of goals conceded.

Against Port...First four goals unanswered, then five later on without reply.
Against Gold Coast...Seven goals in a row at one point, then four unanswered later on.
Against GWS...Four goals without reply through the middle of the game.

Avoid any sequences like those and I think we'll be fine. Let even one of those run-ons happen on Saturday night and it's probably all up for grabs.

Given Richmond's outs and the home ground advantage I think Geelong have the edge. Take out Mansell and Graham who are returning from injury. Note that Dion Prestia is being managed. Richmond basically have no forward line or midfield, which is good as I doubt they will beat up on Geelong's midfield the way recent teams have.

Marlion Pickett to give away at least 5 free kicks 90% of which will be completely unnecessary.

Scotty talking about a couple of young talls

For those playing at home, Geelong are currently playing more young talls (while having all of Hawkins, Cameron, Rohan and Kolo on the park...and Stanley pretty much ready to go) than Richmond are (without Lynch or Grimes). Two of their young talls would also be playing in the VFL with those veterans available.

When even the main board poll (a board full of Geelong haters) has us miles ahead with over double the votes, I'd say the debate ended a long time ago.

It's only Richmond nuffies still clinging onto this 'rebuild debate' being close.

Very true. It's just a reminder that as terrible as the last month has been (one shocker in NT and 3 close losses to finals-bound teams) we are still pumping games into kids, and seeing the ones that weren't kids improve/take on more responsibility as they approach their prime.

I know I anger the cynics with takes like this, but angering cynics is not necessarily a bad thing.

Stanley to play limited VFL this week and Guth to play VFL next week. With Stanley most likely to play vs Sydney. - Scotty
Glad to hear Guth's not far away from returning. And I'm all for a run in the VFL for him to show he's ready to bring something at AFL level.

Hope to see both Danger and Guth return in the seniors following the bye. Even with them, the games at the 'G against the Blues and the Bombers look challenging. Without them, I think we're absolutely looking down the barrel.

I’ve got one seat in the Brownlow stand that I can no longer use for tomorrow’s game, section A36, row AA.

I’m happy to give to away free to another Cats fan, if anyone can make use of it.

What is it with this board and average footballers? They're adored more than people's own mother's around here.
Ummmm, because this is a Geelong Supporters board and these “average footballers” play for Geelong.

Isn’t that what supporters do?

I think a couple of weeks in the VFL would be good for Cam Guthrie. He needs to be up and running before he plays AFL. We won't beat Sydney anyway, no point Guthrie or Dangerfield coming back for that game.

So you're telling me through all the shit years under Ramos, Jol, Santini etc you didn't have less than favourable views on the crabs that played in those teams?

Why should this club be any different? Where is there a requirement that every player gets the happy clapper treatment?

Scotty was asked about the team selection this week as we've lost 2 mids. He said that Mullin is someone they see that can fill that inside mid role as well as MOC.

He thinks bringing in another inside mid is not an area that is of genuine concern for them as we have depth, it's just we're missing the superstars in peak form such as Guthrie and Dangerfield.

He was also asked about VFL players getting a turn and said it's too hard to squeeze them in as we can see with Parfitt. He mentioned Humphries potentially will get a game soon and did mention Hardie as playing really well and Knevitt as a player they'd like to have played more.

He conceded our midfield hasn't played as well as it could, but not because a lack of depth.
