Dempsey pace, jump and agility really stand out. You can tell he is raw but is showing much more than most. If he has the footy smarts he could be a terrific AFL player.
I think there's already good signs that he's got the smarts. Whether he gets big enough and strong enough will be the telling factors for him.

What is the story with Toby Conway?
James Willis (knee), Toby Conway (hip), Sam Simpson (concussion) and Flynn Kroeger (hip) all continue to progress through their respective programs.

Shannon hadn't had many clean touches earlier on. But he was more influential in that quarter. Shot at goal was up to the standard of last night's forwards as well.

Ling has played a really neat game down back. Unflustered and chooses good options. Great pick-up for our inexperienced group.

Ollie's fly at the end of that quarter was another reminder that there could be something really special lurking there. It might be a wild ride but I think he's going to chalk up a highlights reel, at one level or another.

Bombers look ordinary, and injuries are decimating their squad at this point. But you can only beat the team in front of you. Just hope we don't replicate the senior team's Round 2 performance after a training gallop against the Dons first up.

Thanks AV.

Don’t think he was a chance anyway.
As bad as our rucks are, he needs a few weeks in the twos.
As bad as our rucks are, he didn't look any better.

First game back, of course. But if he's going to roughly go at that level, he's far from the answer that some here have been suggesting he might be.

Which is hardly surprising, of course. Once a journeyman, always a journeyman.

Only saw the first half but easy to see why the coaches were so impressed with Whyte. He looks like he can seriously play...and interesting that the first choice midfield at centre bounces seemed to be Whyte, Stephens and Narkle.
