I can't even be bothered thinking about this game with it being three and a half months away. Who knows what might change between now and then, with the pre-season still to come? Still plenty of time to go.

There will be no shortage of hype in the week leading up to the game, no need to stoke the coals yet!

Or if you weren't an idiot.

whats with the abuse on the site these days?? this guy's done nothing wrong but talk about football and is obviously excited about the season starting again... if you dont want to participate in the thread then gtfo

as for the topic... look i know i said this about geelong after 07 but i think hawks will have a premiership hangover and finish 4-8 while cats will be switched on from opening bounce of round 1...

but hey what do i know. i just hope my team can finally crack the top 4 and match it with these two. especially hawks who we had a tough time keeping up with

why its exciting dont you think or are you just deppresed and negative 24/7

You see, you have completed misinterpreted what I said. I look forward to football starting again as much as anyone, just having it back again on a weekly basis and seeing your team, that is what is exciting. But Geelong could flogged by 20 goals in Round 1, and I wouldn't care less, because only an idiot would take anything out of Round. 1 results. The OP is making out that it is the biggest game of the year and he's worried about the result which is nonsense.

These days?

Daemons, hahaha. Idiot.

I think Geelong will come out of the blocks and the Hawks may have a slow start to the season.

So I would not be surprised if Geelong beat us in round 1.

However the Hawks will get them at the buisness end of the season.

I think the ruck work will have a lot to do with this game.
This is why i am interested to see who you guys think will play.

Taylor? Campbell? Renouf? Ottens? Blake? Mumford? West etc

Ottens has the ability to kick a bag

And will Renouf play more than Taylor in 09?

Geelong will win.

One of the following will happen also,

Gamble or Hawkins kicks 4 or 5 goals

Wojcinski gets 25 touches off a back flank.

After this the "experts" will be saying, "if (insert player) was playing in the GF Geelong would have been a huge chance of going back to back" while they conveniantly forget it's round 1 and really means nothing more then 4 points.

hahaha would not surprise me at all.

Will this have a simmilar build up to this year? :p
Geelong by 5 goals. They'll take it serious and thump us.
Then they'll become favourites for the flag, and claim it before the GF is even played!
Geelong
- greatest of all time!

Here's my prediction:

Geelong will dominate the clearances
Geelong will double our inside 50s,
Franklin and Roughead will be extremely quiet
Mitchell will hardly have a touch in the first half
Our highest possession winner will do an ankle on half time
A key defender will also do a match-ending injury at the same time

yet somehow we'll win by about 26 points.

Sounds unbelievable doesn't it ! :D

.....would be cool to see Mooney kick straight too.......
OK I'll bite. Mooney's crazy series of misses killed the Cat's momentum in the GF and eventually lost them about 5 goals. It was pretty significant in your win. How could you possibly want him on song in R1 2009? Don't let the heady feeling of victory delude you, their midfield is comfortably the competition's best. If their key forwards convert you are gone.

hahahah umm if our forwards would have preformed they way they were all season geelong would have been 10 goals down

when buddy has a day out
