Geelong will lose

I'm just personally not a fan of Gary Ablett, I think he's a great footballer, never said that I didn't, I was meaning more in the sense that I'm sick of hearing about him and I don't like the way he goes about things sometimes, but I'm not here to bag any footballers I was just making a point to that particular post, it certainly doesn't make me a moron, just means that we both have opinions that don't agree with eachother.

I prefer Jimmy Bartel (over Ablett) just for the way he goes about things, from what I've seen of Geelong he seems to me to be more of a team player and a bit more selfess in his game, if you think that makes me a moron then so be it, that's your opinion, and this is mine.

Just want to clear up that I haven't actually stated any of this as fact, I am saying from what I have seen of Geelong this is the conclusion I have come to, it is my opinion based on what I have seen.

Well fair enough, but why would anyone be anti Gary Ablett JNR?
Sure you may think Bartel as being the better more team orientated player and you are entitled to your opinion. They are both great players. But why be anti??????

I am still at a loss though as to why supporters take a dislike to players such as Ablett and Riewoldt. When I tune in on Saturday, they will be 2 players I hope play really well because they are champions and great to watch.

Although, I don't know either of them personally, they also both strike me as being great, young people.

The more Abletts and Riewoldts that play the game, the better off we will all be.

Just wish they would play for Collingwood. A man can dream can't he????

Geelong apologists are absolute imbeciles.

They take the bait every time.

Hurry up and lose this weekend so you won't resurface for at least a decade.

He's like the nicest guy in the world. Geez.

St kilda have done the hard yards in the Prelim. Have a forward structure that geelong will struggle to contain. equally good midfield and defensivegame that can't be beat.

Like Port in 2004 hitting their prime while the latter are becoming a spent force.

70 point win against a bunch of nobodies by only getting clearances through the centre isn't fooling anyone.

St kilda by 30

Oh dear. This is sounding a lot like Chocco Williams and Malthouse's speaches - before they got smashed. :thumbsu:

LOL, Forward structure containing Kosi who can't get a touch or kick a goal when coming up against a decent fullback, and this week he comes up against the best, Milne and Schneider who have taken September holidays every year of their career and Riewodlt. If Riewoldt can't kick 5-6+ goals geelong win easy.

Ah just because your once great club 'EXPLODED' at the height of its powers doesn't mean ours will.
Ive got no doubt we we still bury the coasters in the Home and Away season for the next three seasons to come, but in the mean time we've got another flag to win so you just watch how the best go about it and with any luck you might play finals next year!

Geelong comfortably. They have gotten thru their end of season malaise, they have Ottens back and their back and midfield structures are working beautifully. The only thing they would be wary of is their forward structures but with a midfield like that, the supply will be enough to guarantee plenty of scoring opportunities.

St Kilda will be doing a lot of chasing this week. I think the mid year clash told Geelong that they were close even with things not rolling along as well as they are now.

Shuddup idiot saint fans who think your gonna win.
Listen to me, my opinion is rarely wrong.

Geelong will run over the top. Simple.
Sure it's not fair, saints have had the better season ect ect, but here are the facts.

10 facts why Cats will run over Saints

1. A lot of St. Kilda's players are still going to be feeling Friday night when they run out on Saturday.
2. Geelong won't feel a thing.
3. St. Kilda were very very lucky to get home againts Geelong earlier this season at the dome.
4. It's at the MCG. Saints will tire quicker.
5. Gary Ablett plays for Geelong, not St Kilda
6. Nick Riewoldt is playing sore already, even before fridays clash
7. Geelong have a **** load of experience on GF day
8. St Kilda do not.
9. Geelong are a bigger boddied, more desperate, harder at the footy and a better team than St. Kilda.

And the most important fact why Geelong will win.............

10. Paul Chapman

quote me bitches, if he doesn't win the Norm Smith it's coz he did his hammy.

Will be evenly poised at half time, but Geelong will take command in the 3rd term, when Saints start to feel last friday night.
Not fair, but that's footy.

*Places $500 on Paul Chapman for Norm Smith.

Forward structure? We kicked more goals last week in our prelim than you had scoring shots in your win over the Dogs. And those 'nobodies' we beat your mob only managed to put 5 goals on. Saints aren't kicking enough goals right now and there is no way in the world you will hold us to 8-12 goals even if it is wet.

/rolling eyes at original poster.

Man, where does your arrogance come from? Do you forget which team we barrack for?

Holy shit on a stick batman.

Do realise that geelong almost pipped us after we got off to a 5 goal start and they were missing Johnson and Ottens. Think about it.

People will try to get all over this but the truth is your absolutely spot on.

Geelong are a CERTAINTY this week.

For all the reasons covered and the last two matches have shown that they have been craving the big stage since Rd 14. They LOVE the big stage and flexing their muscles on sides who think they have gone past the Cats.

Stevie J will pull out the party tricks in the 3rd with Geelong in cruise control and im backing him for his 2nd Norm Smith.

Point 9 is ridiculous, Firstly Geelong are bigger bodied??? WE have Roo, Kosi, Gardiner, King, Lenny, Bakes, Goddard, Bally, Blake, Jones, Gilbert just to mention a few who are big, strong, and kamikaze at the ball and man. Geelong are harder ate the pill??? Aren't St kilda leading almost every contested stat in the league this year, no1 for contested footy, number 1 for tackles, number 1 for tackles in forward 50. The best defensive team in the last 40 years

You also mention in point 4 that we will tire quickly, yet Geelong are the one coming in to the GF with Ottens, Johnson, Chapman and Kelly having very limited preparations over the last month.

It will also be very interesting to see how a side like Geelong, who rely on a crap load of handballs and dinky disposals fair against a manic tackling and defensive pressure side in wet slippery conditions. skill execution will be tough when you dont have a lot of time.

Gilbert big bodied? About as big bodied as Andrew Mackie. And you can reel off those names... I'll raise you Ablett, Chapman, Ling, Rooke, Selwood, Ottens, Hawkins and Scarlett. And that's just for starters.

Ottens has now played seven matches in a row so I fail to see how anyone could call him underdone. He has been very, very good. Clearly you haven't seen either of our finals if you can't see the impact he's had on our team. I could argue that he'll be fresher than Gardiner, King and Blake, all three of who have played most of the season.

Clearly you haven't seen Chapman or Kelly in the finals.

Chapman - 44 possessions and 7 goals.
Kelly - 44 possessions and the added effect of making our backline so much more settled.

Remember, you guys are the ones carrying niggles into the game. Riewoldt would not be playing this week if it was a meaningless H&A game. Do you really believe that Ottens, Kelly and Chapman would be in the stands with him?

Saints will win, best team this season and dare I say it in the history of VFL/AFL football never have I see a team play as well as they have in a season.

*won 22/24 games, 2 losses were by a total aggregate of 7 points
*Saints midfield is better more depth than Geelongs (Montagna, Dal Santo, Hayes, Goddard, Fisher> Ablett, Bartel, Corey, Selwood, Chapman)
* Saints forward line has the 2 best small men and 2 best talls in the game> Steve Johnson (back from injury), Mooney + varcoe and burns
* Not sure how some of the older slower Geelong players will cope: Tom Harley, Cameron Ling, Max Rooke, Scarlett
* I must admit I had a big question mark on the Saints ability to play out door and at the MCG, but I think the past month they have answered the critics. Solid wins against Collingwood , Bulldogs have put those thoughts to rest

Saints at $2.50 is good odds :thumbsu: Will be thinking of big bet here

I shake my head in astonishment at this comment.

Even the most one eyed Saints supporter wouldn't claim that their midfield is better than ours, what with our two Brownlow medallists and Rising Star.

Lol Saints defence = best in the business my friend.

Saints have only conceded average 61.3 points per match in 24 games this season. Not bad for a team that plays almost half of their games at the Dome . ( a traditonally high scoring venue)

Hey wait!

Why don't you boast on the main board!

Oh yeah.........you did.

Saints are soooo good. Give them the cup now.
