Steven Tyler
Brownlow Medallist
My next trivia question (forgive me, just trying to pass time till the season starts).
In a Hawks '80s gf which two long sleeved opponents played on each other?
Michael Tuck and Paul Meldrum in 1986

You're a legend, great get.Michael Tuck and Paul Meldrum in 1986
Tucky was my fav growing up!You're a legend, great get.
Wasn't he fantastic, a great favourite to have. Lethal was mine then Tucky with Knights - gee we were spoilt!Tucky was my fav growing up!
He admitted he dived for the free kick afterwards, and on their mad Monday that year he dressed up in a diving suitCurrently perusing the youtubes and find myself enjoying some excellent highlight packages from over the past few years (shout out to HawthornHighlights channel).
Just saw something hilarious that I felt compelled to remind everyone about as it would be a crime to ever let this moment be forgotten.
It's from Hawthorn vs Geelong, round 22 2014. AKA. the "Mission Accomplished" game. The only thing better than Chris Scott's post game assessment of a 10 goal turn-around loss 2 weeks out from finals was Bartel taking one of the most embarrassingly blatant dives ever seen.
The 2nd quarter Olympic gold worthy dive caught perfectly on the replay with absolutely no case to be made for even the tiniest bit of contact. A Geelong favourite son with hardly a blemish to his name providing a truly wonderful piece of trolling material that will keep on giving for years and years.
Bartel is more Lewis level of scumbaggery rather than Chapman or Johnson level, and I'm okay with that.He admitted he dived for the free kick afterwards, and on their mad Monday that year he dressed up in a diving suit
I hate Geelong, but Ive always admired Bartel
Yeah he's probably my favourite Geelong player (not like there's any competition). But he is also their golden boy and this is just a great way to rile up Cats supporters. He admitted he dived for the free kick afterwards, and on their mad Monday that year he dressed up in a diving suit
I hate Geelong, but Ive always admired Bartel
Ha! I've been doing the same thing the last few days.Currently perusing the youtubes and find myself enjoying some excellent highlight packages from over the past few years (shout out to HawthornHighlights channel).

Think in one of the older games, Bartel tackled one of our guys, can't recall who, making it look like he was being held, and then was pleading for the holding the man free kick as well.
The ump got it spot on and gave us the free kick.
edit- 2008 Grand Final, 5mins in.
When did he admit it? I remember the week after he was insisting that the contact was there and the free kick well deserved. I have minimal respect for him because of those comments. He admitted he dived for the free kick afterwards, and on their mad Monday that year he dressed up in a diving suit

Can't wait to see replays of JOM highlights on these new screens if they keep them up for footy, might finally get me back to etihad.
Looks like it gave a huge boost to the crowd at the bbl too.......
Edit
Its 37' outside the stadium so must be far hotter inside plus they are blowing those stupid flames
Nope, it was stupidly hot in there last night, the flame things didn't help either.Do they air con the stadium in summer?
Would need an insanely huge air con unit to cool a stadium.Do they air con the stadium in summer?
Looks as though you have the roof shut and screens or open roof and no screens as the screens appear to hang from the retractable part of the roof.Nope, it was stupidly hot in there last night, the flame things didn't help either.
The screens were nice, but I would have preferred them to have the damn roof open, even Brad Scott would agree.

Only QATAR during their World Cup bid has proposed doing such a thing but that idea has been scrapped as far as I know.
Brad Scott approvesYou wouldn't do Aircon in a stadium, you'd have a fine mist of cooled water sprayed out wouldn't you?
