This was just posted in the training thread a few minutes ago by Steven Tyler ;

"Gibson and Hodge will retire end of year, and if Silk's body and mind are still strong, Hawks want him to go again, but it's a wait and see naturally
Silk has no intention of returning home to SA, as he will be involved in the AFL somehow post footy ( multicultural or indigenous)"

Asked my workmate today about the rumours
Silk has lined up a job with the AFL in the multicultural department once he hangs up the boots, be it this year or next
He is aware of the rumours circulating but has zero interest in moving back to SA, or become an assistant coach
The multicultural position is something he is passionate about, and he and family are very settled in Melbourne
He did say that if Port offered "Franklin money", he'd think about it though!

I would have thought Burgers might go around one more year with us, so why leave to go back to that rabble.

I also see him shifting into a full time role within the AFL with Indigenous responsibilities, rather than coaching, building on his current part time role.

Buddy's only had 3 years in Sydney hasn't he?
That's 2104, 2015 and 2016.

So, isn't that 7 years to go?
It was a 9 year, $10 million deal...

Okay, so Buddy turns 30 in January and has 6 years left on his contract.
Physically, he has to slow down as time goes on, injuries will become harder to overcome.

The last 3 or 4 years will be interesting!

Doesn't even matter any more. They've got zip out of what should statistically be his 3 best years (27-30 years old) of his career. All while overpaying and creating list management issues. Even if they turned around and won the next two premierships (which I can't see happening), it still wouldn't be worth the investment they've put into him.

They had to cough up Tommy Mitchell, which I can only see coming back to haunt them...
Mumford too who you could say would have made a big difference in the grand finals (their rucks were awful in 2014 and average in 2016) and I reckon he could be one of the guys standing in Sydney's way in the next two years as well.

Yes it would.

Swans didn't win any flags while Plugger was playing but he brought people through the gates and got people to sign memberships. Financial success is arguably more important to the Swans than Premiership success

And worse again we have Cyril's mate Tippet.
