Did I hear right Heeney signed for $800k a year? Excuse me while l choke on one of Vickerys cat's fur balls.
Her eyes is always good for a night as a "Lan Kwai Fong" punching bag - how is jumping in someone else's cab while telling them they don't know who they are talking to Isaac? Hmmm, hard to talk with a broken jaw

Carlisle is an interesting one, how will any of the blokes who had a year off go, I think he will start ok if a little rusty and cop a soft tissue at some point missing a month, I think just about all of them will cop one or two soft tissue injuries this year

So Buddy, Tippet, Parker, Kennedy and Heeney are all up around the million dollar mark each.

Plus a few others who would pushing up there as well like Jack, McVeigh, Grundy and Reid (assuming he's still on that ridiculous deal).

That's roughly half a dozen players making up easily half their cap. And then with other up and comers like Mills to be looking for similar money.

Not surprising that Mitchell got squeezed out. What is surprising is that they can still keep giving out these contracts.

Doesn't even matter any more. They've got zip out of what should statistically be his 3 best years (27-30 years old) of his career. All while overpaying and creating list management issues. Even if they turned around and won the next two premierships (which I can't see happening), it still wouldn't be worth the investment they've put into him.

If they won the next two premierships it would definitely be worth it. 18 team comp that's statistically worth the financial outlay.

Point is: they won't

So how's that AFLPA strike going again?

The AFLPA still have a point. The game is highly profitable - thanks mostly to the efforts of the players which is why we all tune in. They deserve a fair slice of the revenue flowing into the game. I get that $800,000 a year is massive money to those of us on everyday incomes - but that doesn't discount the fact that the players deserve a fair portion of the game's profits.

I'd love Dylan Shiel :)
But I'd hate to think who (or how many) we'd have to give up to get a trade done :(

Im expecting to to be Breust in a straight swap, with both asking for the trade.

Id love it if Breust re-signs and we found another way to get Shiel, but it would be far easier to go for Dusty or Fyfe or Rocky (assuming any wanted the FA trade).

It's called ambassadorial (cough cough cheating cough cough) payments

Yep its a massive scam. Every club should be given the same amount of AFL money and follow the same rules as to how it is divided up. But that would be too honest and open and fair. Instead we have no idea exactly how much money goes to each player and at club.

.
If it come down to a choice, I'd keep Breust

Im torn over it. Loyalty says Breust. But our forward line is going to be strong for many more years. Our midfield is where we are going to need the most help.
Yeah I get it
I'm old fashioned:
Once they are Hawks, and bloody good ones at his age, I'd hate to see him in other colours

Brad Hill was always heading home at some stage so it's a little different

Jarman, Ben Allan killed me in rival colours

Where does all this Bruest to GWS come from? There has been no indication anywhere, ever, that this is on the cards. Just wish people would stop this sort of speculation.
He's out of contract, a NSW boy, and the Giants are going to win the next 6 Flags!

Just a guess :p

the usual bigfooty sheeple behavior
it gets speculated on enough times and it becomes fact

Yeah, but as I pointed out once before, the difference in distance from home to Sydney and Melbourne is about 100 km. Not enough to call 'homesick'. So I don't subscribe to the NSW Boy bit. Winning the next 6 flags, on the other hand .....
