This is all that needs to be said.
So the more the bullies throw the more illegal advantage they have thanks to the atrocious non umpiring umpires.

Meh. It's a level playing field. Anyone can handball with the same technique as the Dogs. It's not like the umps are letting only the Doggies get away with their handball technique.

The thing is, the 4 teams that made the prelims were the 4 teams who used the hand-throw to their advantage

Make of that what you will

Yeah, the bulldogs throwing was just the "deliberate behinds" of 2008.

The umpires called them fair, so get over it.
NO, rushed behinds were legal. Throwing isn't and never has been and never will be. Hawthorn played within the rules, the bulldogs did not. All year too not just in the Grand Final.

To me deliberately throwing the ball is cheating. With the bulldogs its not the ball spilling out or an accidental throw from the pressure. It's a deliberate tactic to move the ball quicker as they know it cannot be seen in the packs. It's the same as holding a player off the ball and getting away with it, pinching Crowley style or even doping. It's deliberately breaking the rules and hoping not to get caught. I believe all players should be trying to play within the rules at all times regardless of whether they can get away with it or not. it's just common sportsmanship like owning up to a knick in cricket or claiming a catch or admitting it didn't carry, basketballs will raise their hand on a foul to help the refs and scorers they will also correct the refs if they touched it last on an out of bounds. We shouldn't be trying to make the umpires jobs harder by deceiving them and we shouldn't be cheating our opponents by breaking the rules of the game.

I remember earlier in his career Sam Mitchell got called for throws a lot because his hands were so quick. When viewed slow Mo they were all legal hand passes. How things have changed where the players just blatantly throw the ball and don't get penalised.

The umpires let the dogs get away with murder the whole season, we all know there are many examples but we'll concentrate
on the gf - dogs 20 frees / swans 8 frees and the ratio was a lot worse at half time. So it makes sense the umps allowed them
to throw much more than other teams.

http://www.afl.com.au/ is doing a series on "best win of 2016" for each club and I've been waiting to see which game they chose for us. Its no secret they hate our club's guts and try their absolute best to put a negative spin on each and every Hawthorn story they feature.

Surprise surprise, aside from the Bulldogs who are presumably the last team and yet to appear (besides we all know what their best win of the year was) we are the only club they haven't listed on the main page. You can find the game they chose for us -vs Sydney at the SCG- by clicking "MORE VIDEOS" but it is the only game in the series not to be visible on the front page at the time of listing. Hey I'm sure that was a total oversight, a complete accident huh.

Yeah, I guess I'm not one to accept umpire conspiracies (not saying you're a tinfoil hatter at all). I tend to think that teams who "get away with murder" have worked out an angle. Such as us with the third man up. Sure it's been banned now but we pioneered it for years. The handball's day will come.

But then I could be wrong.

They just released another quiz on the 2008 GF. A fair bit easier but I still only managed 6/8 which was average.

7/16 for 2016... Some reasonably obscure questions there.

8/8 2008 GF. Though question 3 is wrong.
Q: Which 2008 premiership player is now an assistant coach at Hawthorn
A: Max Bailey

WRONG none of the 4 players are. Max Bailey is a 2013 premiership player and current assistant coach.

I picked this up as well, but since he is the only player out of those 4 who is a current assistant coach it was the obvious answer. He was on our list in 2008 though.

Not much different to their"Best Grand Final," and "Best Finals Game." I have been saying for a long time that the AFL don't like Hawthorn, who should be a minnow, being the most powerful club in the competition, and they have an agenda to turn fans against us. Well, eat sh1t Gil and Co., we are coming back stronger in 2017.:):thumbsu::rainbow:

No, l think and hope you're right.

The deliberate behinds saga was blow way out of proportions by the "Hawthorn Hateing" media. There were 23 behinds, of which 12 were scored due to Geelong's inaccuracy. Of the 11 rushed behinds, some were definitely under pressure. However, the handful that were scored when the Hawthorn player just stepped across the line really frustrated the cats, and their media followers. There was no rule at that time, so the ploy was totally within the rules.

There have been blatant incidents of players, under no pressure running the ball through for a behind, but go unpenalized.
