Dare say the boundary riders wouldn't be in the best positions for it also - many things when they happen at the breakneck speed of professional footy can go unnoticed. If the MRP can demonstrate he is dropping into tackles however he should be getting the suspension and not the players who hit him through no fault of their own.

if half the spectators can see it, surely the professionals can?

Selwood ducking into tackles is more annoying than anything else. If someone is going to get hurt it's probably him.

I'd be more concerned about Hawkins and his "jumper punches". You know the ones where he grabs a fist full of the opposition jumper collar and then uses the elasticity of the match day jumpers to slingshot his clenched fist into the jaw and throat of the player. The player isn't sent flying because he's holding onto them and because he's holding the jumper the media just act like it must have been incidental contact from "wrestling".

Hawkins would have a longer rap sheet than Greene if he went for these.

Thats my point though - the AFL and NRL are protecting the heads of players and that’s where these changes are coming from. If protection of the head is paramount then Selwood should cop the suspension for deliberately drawing high contact as opposed to tacklers who are trying to make a correct tackle.

Judging by the sheer volume of missed calls in any game - I can only say no, they seemingly can’t.

The way they are coached to adjudicate the game consistently actually makes it hard to see the game the same as footy fans. It causes selection bias as they are looking for specific signs and anything outside that is hard to see.

Bound to happen eventually
Expect by Feb it'll be 7xRAT tests (daily) for exposures
On Swans board it mentions several of the involved players flying down to Melbourne. Clarke apparently catching up with Essendon mates. Also mention of Hawthorn boys. It will all come out in the wash but terrible timing for all involved and their families, as they will have to isolate for Christmas.

My sister and brother, who both work at different hospitals, tell me that their hospitals have informed staff that February is expected to be a new peak for Covid infections.
Client who also works in hospitals has said the same. Also said to expect more lockdowns in Jan / Feb in preparation 😞

The 2022 season could be the biggest clusterf@#k so far.

Constant withdrawals, postponements, cancellations, isolations and then there's WA.

I know I'm being selfish as a supporter but there is no end in sight until everyone has had it. And even then there will be a new variant just around the corner. Sorry I offer no solutions just rant.

Very highly doubt the latter. I think the health sector would like that but I feel politicians of all stripes have moved past lockdowns being a solution.

We will ALL end up with catching it eventually. My neighbour had to isolate for 14 days because someone he worked a shift with tested positive the next day. I went around to drop off a Christmas card to a friend and say hello, only to find they were in isolation because my friend had only just returned from a week in hospital after getting Covid. They hadn't left their house in the preceding weeks, although they had taken their caravan to their block in the bush, but saw no one else. On their return they stopped at a garage and while my friend filled up the car his wife got a cup of tea. She got it first and 4 days later he got it. She had minimal symptoms and he ended up in hospital. They were both double vaccinated.

It will depend on the number of hospital admissions. Lockdown could well be implemented to prevent hospitals from being overloaded.

Anything is possible - however the federal government have said multiple times now we are beyond lockdowns. That means there will be zero federal assistance if a lockdown happens - the economic impact of that would be immense.

The NSW health minister said last week they anticipate 25,000 cases a day at the end of January. He didn’t even blink while saying it. Victorian government is still committed to full capacity Boxing Day test and Australian Open - this is all with Omicrom as a known factor. Personally I don’t see lockdowns being a lever governments can use any more - some other restrictions might be used I don’t doubt.

Of course I hope you’re right but that’s just what they reckon. I can see Vic doing it, certainly not NSW

As I mentioned above - with zero federal support I don’t think it’s even an option.
