I may have missed this but is Collingwood going to keep DeGoey on the list this year?
Who knows. I did read a post on the Collingwood site where the poster said that CCTV coverage viewed by Pies board basically helps De Goey. If true then delist not guaranteed.

De Goey and friend in a roped off area. Woman coming inside to cadge free drinks more than once and being given the flick. Confers with male friend who enters area and starts pushing and shoving ........

I think everyone is waiting and see outcome of January court appearance.

Would be good to see the footy players not having done the wrong thing for once. Hopefully very different to Matt Lodge in the NRL who is bewilderingly lucky to have a career in professional sports considering what he got up to in NY.

I'd love JDG to get offed by Collingwood and for us to get him on a discount, yes he comes with issues but we lack bonafide matchwinners and he has the potential to be one of them.
Didn’t you want us to give a second chance of that woman basher last year from the swans?

Quite possible but the damming part is putting up vision of yourself acting like a flog which really comes home to roost when you are charged by the local constabulary.
It's beyond a joke now. If bank robberies were still worth doing, you'd have idiots filming themselves doing jobs & posting on Instagram about it.

Would depend on what the outcome of this situation in the US is. If he is absolutely vindicated and has done nothing wrong - then I wouldn't be automatically opposed. I'd want a fairly big system in place though to ensure he is making steps to make better choices off field and I wouldn't want to be paying the top dollar based on his talent.

When you think about when Dusty could have been snapped up cheaply and the damage he has been able to do on-field and not so much off-field since, there is definitely a risk vs reward calculation that needs to be done.

That said - if findings from this latest incident indicate he has stepped outside the law or there's any scuttlebutt that would indicate his not guilty verdict over here has a bit of a Milne-like taint around it then I would want the club to steer clear.

I see Fischer McAsey of the Crows has suffered a leg injury and will have his seasons start delayed by 6+ weeks. You may ask who da fug is he and how does that concern us. It doesn't really but he is a pick 6 key defender, taken a year before we took DGB. Played 10 games first year, couldn't get a game last year, and was apparently being trialed as a forward now.

Just goes to show that high draft picks are not guaranteed gold. Of course pick 6 , or there about, has a very chequered history, in the history of Hawthorn drafting. Certainly i still have high expectations of DGB, but wonder if we would have drafted him if he had been born Beau Grainger-Baras.

Callow monstered him to, high picks for some talls are always the biggest busts

The only way we get him on a discount is because Collingwood has delisted him (which will probably mean he's actually done the wrong thing) and no other club is willing to put in a better offer to sign him (which is a huge red flag).

Even at a discount I don't think he'd be worth it. Has already shown he can't learn from his mistakes. Continues to bring controversy to his club.

If we need a match winner type then I'd prefer we continue to try and develop one from our list or pay the premium price tag to bring one in who has good character.

Are they seriously trying to compare Harvey to Burgoyne. Unless the criteria is who is most likely to play the elf at their club's Christmas function - you pick Burgoyne every day of the week and twice if it's September.

Say these two sentences about Dustin Martin back in 2013, like many of us did, and look at what you cost yourself. If he's actually done no wrong in NY - or nothing that warrants criminal charges, you would be crazy not to consider it if he's showing genuine interest in turning himself around and the club feels there are support people in place to facilitate that.

If even half the stories I have heard about Franklin during his tenure at the Hawks were true then you'd be equally concerned about his impact on a club's culture. We handled that without too much distraction - I would back us to do it again if JDG is actually redeemable.

You definitely could. But you could also just as easily end up with one of the countless other players who've come and gone through the AFL who had all the talent but none of the application.

I just don't see the point of bringing in someone who's almost certainly going to bring down the quality of the culture for the slim chance that they may turn things around.

You can use those examples - but those as prodigious as JDG don't seem to go completely off the rails as much as kids like Garlett etc. He's also got no addiction issues that we know about like Cousins - just seems to do silly things when on the turps.

At 26, about to his his prime and if coming away from the NYC thing unscathed - I would definitely hope the club does due dilligence if he were to be available and at a bargain price.

Lots on this board would have also said no to Dusty on the cheap 6 or so years ago, so I'll take opinions on here with a grain of salt lol.

I was one of those idiots. Have learned my lessons!

The first one on the list was caught within 15 mins 😂

The ONLY way Degoey will ever learn is if everything is taken away from. Even then there’s no guarantee that he will change his ways.

McAsey was a poor pick at the time even. Went way too early, a treacle slow intercept defender that had no decent forwards to prove himself against in his year.

Some picks are just bad.
