Joel Selwood is painfully bad in front of camera. The little kid had more personality. Just because you played footy doesn’t mean you should get to commentate it.

Seriously. Selwood's commentary has not been great at all.

For contrast, Sewelly is good, but he had to go through the VFL and work his way up & work on his commentary craft - and he's great now.

Feel like Tommy Mitchell should have a crack though, as he sounds a natural on his podcast. Different kettle of fish, but as a colour caster he would go alright.

There are a number of ex players I'd love to see in special comments, Selwood was never one. Just from our great team Jordy isn't bad, I reckon Smith would do a good job, guys like Sam and Roughy would have been great but their plans were always elsewhere. Jaegs would go pretty well too.

Holmes, Miers, Bruhn, Clarke, Close, Bowes, Dempsey, Henry doesn't add up to a serious footy team.
