Came home from a day out at cricket and watched the game. Was a surprised to hear Lynch say in the commentary that women's AFL team were generally favoured for the wooden spoon. Why I wonder? I never exactly knew where they might finish given that the comp was completely new and players largely unfamiliar to me but I thought they seemed to have a solid group of experienced and talented players to me.

PS Into the last round before sub-district cricket finals there were many who were grateful that Lynchy was tied up with commentary commitments and not smashing the ball around the park this afternoon

wasn't the plan to have the women's Grand Final as a curtain raiser for the Round 1 Men's game? If so it might well be Metricon (or Adelaide Oval).

She was planning to spend just the AFLW season in Queensland and then head back to Victoria, but says those plans are up in the air now as she's enjoying her time up in Brisbane.

Seems the AFL have their heart set on Princess Park or Adelaide. Not sure they've consired that the Lions may make the GF though.

Actually, I can't see why it wouldn't be at the gabba (if we earn hosting rights.) The Adele concerts are three weeks before grand final day so the ground should be in reasonable condition by then

You're assuming they're not going to relay a bunch of new turf after the concert. Gabba hasn't had a relay in a while and the fact theyre hosting a concert when they haven't in 30 years would suggest to me that they agreed to host it so the fee would cover the turf costs. But thats just speculation

An AFLW grand final at the gabba would draw a bigger crowd than any lions (male) game for the whole year. So why not host it there?

Next week will be one hell of a match. One can't help but wonder if the travel will get to Adelaide. It effected our girls last week so who knows. Either way, can't wait!

It's a good idea. AFLW will be left with a few dead rubbers with half the comp essentially out of it now. Realistically it's a 3 way race now (unless Carlton win their last 3 games. A chance to win each game certainly, but unlikely to pull of all 3)

Carlton, Dogs & Pies would still be realistic shots of making finals with a Top 4 and that would create a whole lot more to play for in the back half of the competition.
