e've got the hardest final run home. Crows, Dogs and Blues. We might scape in on % if we lose 2 of the following 3.

Makes next week all that more important if we're going to make the grand final/host it.

Pretty much been our best week in week out. I reckon.
Deserves it.
I must say when I saw her highlights reel I was thinking "she is an elite player?" . She imposes herself on aerial contests and can bring it down, but slow around the ground and still needs to work on her skills, but she is such a big strong player she is hard to handle. Think of our forward line if Katie Brennan ever wants to come home.

I thought the earlier game between the academies showed some good talent and certainly a few all Australians running around in that game, the next wave is promising.

When she rucks she reminds me a bit of Stef, in that she's sub-par for taps, but makes up for it by basically being an extra mid in clearance work and tackling. She's more effective as a forward than Stef, though. Definitely among our best half-dozen in every game so far. For such a big unit, her workrate is really impressive.

I see the AFL has announced that all Victorian u/18 TAC Cup sides will have a girls team for 16-18 year olds in a competition commencing next year.

No word of any other elite girls comp in another state.

No doubt we'll get our share of wantaway go home girls once they're drafted by non Victorian clubs and specifically the Lions ;)

Luckily, QLD is home to the biggest number of teams of any state.

I didnt know that, certainly it looks like the girls participation numbers are increasing exponentially. We struggled to fill teams at 11 and 13 year age groups last year, but look like having plenty this year.

The Giants winning this afternoon very much gives us the inside running to the Grand Final.

We just need to win one game and maintain a percentage advantage over Carlton and Melbourne, even if either of these teams win all their remaining games.

GWS! An AFLW Grand Final spot for us is looking good now. Though the loser of Adelaide/Brisbane is only one win ahead of Melbourne still - so I don't want to get too far ahead just yet.

But it'll be tough for Melbourne make the final with a 3-2 record at the moment and the % they've got. Winning their last two games won't be enough - will likely need results to go their way. They've got to play Adelaide in Darwin next week too.

Yeah that GWS win is a great result for us!

So a win tonight just about assures a grand final spot for the Brisbane girls due to the fact that Adelaide play Melbourne next week. Of course it's still mathematically possible for Brisbane to the GF if they win tonight but that's extremely unlikely. There's also the added incentive of trying to secure hosting rights of the GF.

I don't think anyone could have predicted women's footy would go this well in Queensland.

Why? If you look at the marquee players from previous years a lot of them have been qlders.

We have a strong women's league and a developing jnr program.

Also because the boys leagues aren't at the same level as the southern states the girls can play against the boys a little longer and be competitive. There is some outstanding talent coming through next year out of qld as well.
