I swear I’ve seen him pass it to Salem on occasion. Who then chips it, pretty much to the left.

Bailey was the one who got rid of Junior McDonald at the end of 2010, his third season in charge. Daniher was long gone by then.
Allright I worded that badly I meant and then while coach they got rid of Jmac which left him with no leadership.

People just need to come down to our environment and see our culture.
I wish this one didn’t keep coming up. I’d forgotten.

Also I regret that I didn’t take them up on it. Love to bang on the door at Casey and say thanks for the invitation. I’m here to see your culture. Where would you like to start?

Did everyone get an email from Peter Lawrence with a video message?
Yep. Personally, he doesn't fill me with a ton of confidence from a governance perspective (and some of his home base ideas are pretty fanciful); however, I do appreciate the disruption he's trying to cause at a board level.

I certainly haven't voted in the way the existing board has prescribed; however, I'm not really on board with the full 'Red and Blue Ticket', either. I'd encourage everyone to do a bit of research on each of the candidates and vote for a balance that reflects what they want to see from the club.

I don't know much about Peter Lawrence but for me this is a big no, unless I've misunderstood it.

"The goal of the Deemocracy group is to seize this opportunity to improve the constitution of the Melbourne Football Club, ensuring that it appropriately reflects the Objects of the Club, enshrines proper female representation on the Board and puts in place electoral processes which will provide a fair and transparent democratic process."

I just think that's a step too far, I don't care about the gender of people on board, just get the best people on board.

Do they mean "objectives" or something else?

My quarrel with this is more academic. All parts of the constitution should reflect the objects. Currently inclusivity isn’t one of the objects of the club. If they want to diversify representation you would need first to amend the objects. Anything you tack on outside of that won’t be legally binding and the last thing this lot need is more legal ambiguity.

Other than that, the board does have female representation. It doesn’t appear as though we are in the business of exclusion so where is the mischief that Peter is seeking to remedy? If there isn’t an actual problem, skip it because it’s patronising and doesn’t actually achieve anything. I would assume that any women on the board would like to think they were appointed on merit. If you have the constitution enshrine representation by some group or other you end up implying that the appointment of anyone from that group isn’t on the basis of merit.

Storm in a tea cup. Sit tight, be confident.

A guy who runs a national team in a different sport overseeing a club level team in the AFL is weird. You've got the best of the best playing for the all blacks, there are no ego's, favouritism, dysfunction, if you are a dysfunctional player you dont get picked.

If you were going to do something like this ive go no idea why you wouldnt ask Craig Bellamy or someone from the Storm instead.

I hadn’t thought of it like that but you’re probably right. The dynamics of a nationally selected team would be quite different.
